Black screen and crash on launch (Steam)

    Hello everyone!

Everytime I patch the game, the black screen and crash problem comes back with a vengeance. Usually, after I restart my PC, it fixes itself, but since yesterday's patch, I can't seem to fix it. I tried everty tricks I could find on Google (renaming the steam-api64.dll file, exiting steam before launching, just waiting ( I waited for more than 20 min and stil nothing)) and now I'm at my wits ends. It got worst since 7.0 and I really don't know what to do anymore.

Here's my specs in case it helps:

    Intel Core i7-9700k CPU

    32gb RAM

    GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

    Appreciate all the help!

    Try following:

    1. download Hwinfo: https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
    2. start it with "Sensors only"
    3. Create a log. There are buttons in the bottom of the window.
    4. play so for 20 minutes or until the game crashes.
    5. upload the log somewhere so i can look into it. You can also zip it if it gets too big.

    Cheers

OK, the log looks very good. No overheating or voltage problems so far. Which BIOS version do you have?

You could also try to redownload the game. The game is usually located at:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

You can delete the FF14 folder there. And it will redownload it from scratch. This may fix the problem with corrupted data.

So I decided to start the game and just wait. After about 30 minutes, the game finally started. I just hope it doesn't take that long everytime I start it from now on. Thanks for the help!

    UPDATE

I had this happen with this update and the last one prior.

After the launcher finishes updating (Steam version) and you click "Play" (Green button), the screen / window pops up black with nothing but a small blue rotating cursor (windows loading cursor).
If you attempt to click mouse buttons, move the cursor, press any keyboard keys, the game window crashes or locks up the PC completely.

If you do nothing while the blue rotating cursor is spinning, for a few moments to 30+ minutes, the game usually loads up (Square Enix screen the title shows up) and you can continue as normal (character select screen will load slower than usual and have the "Now Loading" icon spinning at the bottom-right of the screen for a few moments).
Once you have logged in and played the game, it usually doesn't happen again, until another client update, it seems to do it once after an update, for anyway and a few others (internet search of issue).

Interestingly, launching the "FFXIVBOOT.EXE" from within the "\Steam\steamapps\common\Final Fantasy XIV Online\boot\" folder and logging in with a Windows PC Square Enix Account and updating then launching the game (Non-Steam version of the game) does not seem to get this issue, it starts as it should with no delay. (I tested this myself with my Steam and Non-steam accounts on two different PC's)
