Commendation Beggars

I honestly wouldn't mind a separate system at this point.

Like commendations as a concept are nice but the complete inconsistency in why, when, and how much they're given out combined with them being tied to mentor.. it's not like you can ever fully control it but..

It makes me wish I could give out something with no reward tied to it that was more specific and still went through even if everyone left early.

Like how I can leave an Amazon package delivery a review like "handled with care!" even if I found the package an hour after it was delivered.

Portraits still SUCK but if they fix them to be more usable and I could just say "Nice portrait!" and players could see it if they checked like a log book you carry on yourself or whatever.. That way there's still evidence of you getting nice responses but it's not a number/resource/currency etc. it's just something for you to enjoy.

Hah there are much more important things that need to be handled in this game though than giving me the ability to put stickers in people's digital scrapbooks because we were in a party together even if the idea makes me smile.

Maybe they could add like a ‘comments’ section to the Adventurer Plates for things like this? Like the message books you can leave in housing. Plus the adventurer plate portrait tends to be much more consistent than the instant portraits, so less likely to be an embarrassing DMV photo lol.

Like a dozen or so canned responses with small stamps tied to them that you give out. And like there's no just picking one person, you can sit down and put a response to all 3 other party members if you want.

Nice job! Cool outfit! Etc. really really generic stuff.

Just a quick question since I've been noticing this more and more as DT has progressed.



Are you guys more or less likely to give out a commendation to someone if they specifically make a point to ask for it at the end of a duty?

Personally (and ESPECIALLY if they tack on a <se.#> like in the screenshot), asking for commendations makes me less likely to actually commend. The person in this was a tank that was pretty chatty and friendly, but asking for the commendation after the fact just made it all feel fake.

i com people for only 1 of 2 reasons.
they played well enough for me to take notice. (maybe they rescued me, esunad me, or covered me if i got hit or if they did good dps that i was fighting for 2 in the upper agro bar)

I wouldn't really give my commendation based off them asking.

I base commendations off how the players played ect.
Was the tank using mitigations/healing tools well?
Was the boss defeated fastly because of DPS? (and if those DPS were using their contribution tools well, such as a ranged who uses their mits for pulls & AOE's)
Was the healer Managing their resources well and contributing damage while not gcd healing when it's not needed.

If all else fails then i just commend the best portrait

In Frontlines, I commend players with the highest Battle High.

In CC, the player that died less and contributed more, or successfully called shots.

In Normal content, to the player that helped me as DPS more.

About commendation begging: LOL

That's something that comes naturally by playing the game, a person that asks for "compensation" is probably being chatty and acting nice as a means to an end and that's gross.

Hey, seeing how much the entertainment sectors are generally suffered because it seems every next person is a try hard, or blow hard, or pretender of some kind ... I appreciate the days when we were all simple and shallow with the things that can entertain us.

I played a lot of PvP, you get them fairly often there due to the nature of fast matches and often smaller groups than usual. I have over 10k now.
When I tell people to not comm me, I get even more commendations. Advise for people farming them therefore is, tell people to not comm you.
