Wuk lamat ruin EW/ShB legacy

Wuk lamat can't be saved.. she doesn't have the capability to be saved at least 2 expansions after DT.

I don't want to see her again please get rid of her

I think it's a bit dramatic to say she alone ruins the legacy of the last two expansions given that it was a story told over the course of 5, with Dawntrail meant to be the start of a new adventure after the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga ended

as for her character, she's alright
not my favorite, but I don't hate her or anything
she's very much like a shonen protagonist in some areas

I wouldn't say it ruins the past. It just feels like a completely different game in its vibe. If it turned out that the whole expansion actually took place in another reflection somehow I wouldn't be surprised because it feels so absolutely disconnected from the struggles the rest of the source has gone through for the past decade+.

She's not good enough of a character to take the spotlight of an entire expansion, is my main criticism. As a side character in small doses her naive buffoonery would be tolerable, particularly if she occasionally felt the consequences of her nonsense. But to not only shove the WoL aside as the main character, but also effortlessly upstage them during the final trial fight was just way too much. She goes from incompetent and somewhat inept, to more powerful than the WoL out of seemingly nowhere, and it feels so incredibly unearned.

Honestly, the entire expansion would have been far better served if Wuk Lamat was sidelined halfway through the story after the challenge ended, and the WoL with the help of some of the scions handled the whole Alexandria arc without Wuk around.

I hate Wuk Lamat. There's nothing redeeming about her, but she's not the problem. She's a symptom of the problem; bad writing. It's not Wuk that ruins the legacy, it's the piss poor writing that came off the back of ShB and EW. You can get rid of Wuk, but it won't matter if the writing behind everything is still dogwater.

Ironically, I actually think Wuk could be saved, but a competent writer that cares about the story, lore, and understands how to write characters needs to be at the helm. In a way, she reminds me of Ahsoka Tano. Everyone hated Ahsoka when the Clone Wars movie was released, but she slowly grew on everyone as her character was developed to becoming a fan favorite. But that appeal was earned, and was the result of a mostly planned arc Ahsoka went through.

Hiroi needs to be let go or tossed back into the sidequest rubber room where he can't do anymore serious damage and we need someone like Ishikawa guiding the story and characters.

Depending on how you look at it personally, what Wuk went through and the characters she encounters could be compared to what our WoL went through and encountered.

"Zoraal Ja is Wuk's Zenos character!"
"Living Memory is Wuk's Ultima Thule moment!"
"The attack on Tulyollal is Wuk's "Final Days" hitting Thavnair/Garlemald moments!"
Genuinely won't be surprised if during the patch cycle we get: "The big bad for the 7.4/7.5 trial is Wuk's Meteion/Endsinger character!"

Of course, someone might see all of these things I just listed and come to their own personal conclusion that Dawntrail and Wuk Lamat are both just mockeries of the Shadowbringers/Endwalker expansions and of our WoL, given the story is kind of presented as a "Speedrun of WoL's greatest hits of past expansions" for Wuk Lamat. It's like the new writers kind of forgot, or just don't care, about the importance of what all of those moments and characters meant to our character's growth as a whole, and what they actually meant when they happened and we experienced them. It kind of feels like these big moments we went through were just reduced to immediate gratification / shock value moments, with the characters we originally experienced being made into watered down bootleg parallel versions of them; all created and written just so the writers could make Wuk Lamat seem so incredible and strong from beginning to end as she went through them each one by one, while also completely removing any of the buildup or "growth" that made them all so memorable to many of us in the first place.

I hate Wuk, but I won't say she ruined Shadowbringer/Endwalker. However it does all depend on how someone views Wuk as a character and the story itself personally.

I feel Wuk Lamat was a symptom of a simplified story. The writing of the "story" feels like it was written to justify the quests we are sent on; it feels very naive and juvenile when you compare it to the writing we are used to - even the tragic beats of the story seem more like blips with little impact. I feel that the writing of Wuk seems a bit too simple in the fact she rarely reacts or rather just kind of lacks a emotional range given all the events she experiences - sure she gets sad but once the scene is over she is back to being generally annoyingly plucky. The flaws she does have feel like they are injected into the story merely for the sake of levity rather then with rationale - particularly given she has been around those animals living at the highest point in a town next to the sea; giving just a good rationale for one of her "fears" might've helped to humanity her but instead they seem there for cliche anime puns.

I think Wuk can be salvaged - we REALLY need her out of the spotlight for a bit and maybe have her mourn or reflect on the fact that her father and brother and scores of her people have died - that she basically failed to "save" Sphene and her people. Have her take a oppertunity to manage herself for a bit and maybe have us ride with Koana a bit to get a better understanding of other more technical and complex aspects of Tural as Wuk's understanding of Tural and its workings seems VERY simplistic and surface level - I think us talking and spending time with Koana would help us detox a bit from the bad experience of Wuk and give her time to be refined and then reintroduced after she reflects on the events of the story.
