it/its - 14 accessibility is bad, ease of access is not accessibility, jobs are boring. Transphobia ruins real attempts at criticism and it's whack.
I don't know why people say this when everything besides current Extreme/Savage/Ultimate doesn't require good ping. I'm from NA and I've ran content on JP and OCE without issue as long as I'm not greeding GCD's consistently. PvP is affected by ping even moreso than PvE and even then me and others have reached Crystal or top 100 while at 200-300 ping. Hell there's a cross-region PvP tournament being organized and practiced for rn that has LP teams from NA, EU, KR, CN, and JP meeting on OCE to conduct the tournament. If your definition of fun is optimal performance, then sure, it's "unplayable", but you are far from unable to complete content/being an anchor or being able to enjoy yourself while playing with others.OCE isn't a good alternative because the lag there is an awful experience for both NA and EU. When playing on EU the lag isn't noticeable but on OCE it is utterly miserable. NA to EU would be a better alternative because at the very least just one group has to suffer some lag as opposed to both groups suffering a great amount of lag. OCE is genuinely unplayable for the most part if you don't actually live there.
I guess, almost nobody from the EU will seriously play on Aether. The connection EU <-> NA is very bad, you get 300 ms ping etc. The second reason has to do with timezones. I do not think, that many EU players will play at 2:00 am.
Cheers
the people doom and glooming about raiding being on one datacenter is kinda wild because eu is not gonna sacrifice sub-50 ping to raid on a datacenter on na.
as for the topic, i want to say they should add it just for posterity's sake but primarily they should add a cross-dc party finder first before opening the gates to eu <-> na transfers with dc travel. materia is also fine as it is since it's an established place where people from na, eu, jp and oce can meet.

♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥
Yeah uh.. about that.. there's plenty of social events that only take place on NA. You kinda have to be up for those.
About the ping specifically, I usually get 80, up to 120 ping on NA servers from London. I can play MCH without any issues, too. Granted, the cloud server test was even faster.
Plus, the EU servers used to be located in North America.. Titan HW used to be funky yes, but it has gotten so much better since then!
If they do that, people are just going to make private parties with the password in the description, or everyone's just going to decide that 0000 or 1234 is the "open to anyone" passwords.
What they could also do is just have anyone with the <<Traveler>> tag be counted as loot locked. so if you're DC traveling, you won't get anything from current savage, and you'll reduce the loot for everyone else too. But it doesn't stop friends from traveling over just to help each other out in a fight.
That wouldn't fix the issue of needing to DC travel to do old raids though. On the one hand, maybe we should let the DCs consolidate for old content since it's a lot harder to find groups for. On the other hand, it takes longer to fill, so people will be under those DC travel restrictions for longer.
As someone who has both a NA and EU friends, having EU/NA data central travel will make this game finally perfect for me.
I still mainly play on EU for having proper ping reasons. but i yearn for being able to play with my NA friends on my main account, since they are useally playing it more then my eu friends. I do have a NA alt, but over a long time it really becomes bothersome to keep leveling that up as well. especially since most of my jobs are leveld on my main and I have glamour/mounts and everything set up.
I too play with NA and EU people and we just meet on Materia to run some content. As someone who has both a NA and EU friends, having EU/NA data central travel will make this game finally perfect for me.

Not everyone wants to play with 400 MS. The DC travel infrastructure is already there, and Yoshi already said he's ready for region travel, he just needs to "see an interest" in it from the players.
