    Daresay

I can be a little pedantic over language but one thing that I have begun to notice (and now can't *stop* noticing) is how frequently the word "daresay" is used in the script

Yesterday I played a level 60 PLD job quest, the level 88 magical ranged role quest, the quest to open up the new raids and the quest to open up Straysborough Dead walk. Four times I noticed the expression, "I daresay..." was used.

There's nothing wrong with it, it just strikes me that it's used quite frequently, more than you'd normally hear people use the word in daily life.

I'm wondering if it's a translation of something in Japanese that is a more every day expression. Literally it fits, but it's semantically unusual.

This isn't a gripe by the way, I'm just a nerd who wanted to see if anyone else noticed!

Honestly this is how I feel whenever I see the word "ever" used to mean "always".

I feel this way about "must needs be".

So I'm tidying up quite a variation of old quests at the moment and now I can't stop seeing it everywhere.
In tonight's adventures, it was used in the text for one of the Post Moogle quests and in the level 80 ninja quest.

If anyone wants a new drinking game that is certain to get you drunk, take a drink every time you see "daresay"

    I daresay this is nitpicking.

I've heard it plenty of times in my life, but perhaps more from older people. The language is meant to be English but feel different, so they achieve that by using old english - which is exactly what it sounds like. The words used by our parents, grandparents or distant ancestors.
