If they don't fix things like this nothing would stop them for using other simpler terms with the same premise as the one of the pic to cheat the filter (which is what some are already doing).

that's fair, and upon seeing the second picture you posted yeah that is pretty egregious
I'd like to give benefit of the doubt and say it's not to bypass any filters, but I don't see a need for the random block letters

I can understand using it for the venue name to make it pop, the ads in PF do it all the time, but random words? It's excessive and an eyesore to read to boot

The filter, while a step in the right direction, definitely needs a lot of work
The fact that it appears to be case sensitive and has a minimum character requirement seems like a big oversight. Upping the limit wouldn't be so bad either

Upon reading more responses in the thread it did give me ideas to better filter things out, like the iscord.gg idea, if the filter even works that way

Most do! Even the worst filters. It's kind of the logic behind them, non exclusive to this game.

"iscord" catches Discord discord (D)iscord etc

If we had regex we could do *iscord to catch all of that and things like Biscord or Criscord, whereas ?iscord would only catch Biscord and Discord but not Criscord and (D)iscord etc.

But we don't have regex so you'll have to settle for creative things like iscord and .co

They do not cheat/bypass the filter on purpose. They use those special characters because they are much more visible in the chat. That's it. It's the same what RMT spammers did. They used the special characters before the chat filters were introduced.

Perhaps filtering "gpose" or "venue" or something of the sort would be a more efficient solution than filtering the name of the people bothering you.

Regardless of their way to express themselves.

The Devs really have just been half measuring this for awhile.

And while the devs are glad to let the community work things their own way.

That shouldn't be the case for alot of things.

Just like Blacklist got improved, maybe they should specialize that part of the community even more and allow them to grow.

Merging of Fellowships/GC<->FC and give them a personal/private "PF/DF" and their communities and outreachs will grow.

it will allow people who only care for a few things to do so unopposed. and incentivize players to actually use it.

But as with Carrots.

They need to not be afraid to use thr Stick without Restraint.

If they want people to do things as they should be. The Stick needs to be Used on them, without Restraint.

(It goes without saying, on situations where it's cut and dry. Maybe even give people a Specific chat as a Zone/Global chat along with all of this. so other things like NN ain't abused. Whilst penalizing advertising where it don't belong. Its a chat channel, not an advertising channel.)

I'm not sure if anyone is purposefully trying to cheat the filter so much as the filter just kind of sucks. People use things like the special characters and block letters to make the message stand out more and have a more formatted look to it, not to try to purposefully bypass filters.
