    Future Patches of Dawntrail

Dawn trail has had lots of criticism and I think its time to begin looking to the future patches. Since Lamat is more a plot device than a character, the first thing that needs to happen before the story can get good again, is Lamat needs to become the villain. Her dreams, her resolve, are easily corruptible. I think her line at accepting the Dawnservant role is very concerning:
Because if there's one thing my journey has taught me, it's that your happiness is my happiness!
It's clear the reverse is true as well when Alexandria attacks shortly thereafter. This is why I think it will be simple for the writers to corrupt her into being antagonistic towards the player.

Looking at another fantasy/Sci-Fi series a certain god uses desire for change for the better to corrupt people. Obviously this god has no bearing on the Final Fantasy series, however, the concept of a desire, even a benevolent desire, corrupting is an easily transmissible idea. I even saw it on a Final Fantasy related game where each character represented a certain theme or concept. One such theme was Justice, and this character would do despicable things in the name of Justice.

At the end Lamat kept telling Sphene to let go and let her take over looking after her Alexandria and even acknowledged they were similar in there resolve to their people. Sphene is very clearly meant as a parallel for Lamat, probably originally as a foil though.

I would imagine it needs to start small. Koana said she was going to offer us a position in her government the night before the coronation, however, as adventurers we would obviously refuse. This could easily offend Lamat, haven't we been such good allies through the journey of Dawnservant selection and the war against Alexandria? Obviously we've brought a lot of joy to the people of Tuliyollal, it'd certainly be a shame for us to leave now. There are also unknown parts of the content that Lamat hasn't explored, clearly she needs us to hold her hand there. Perhaps we'll find something that shows Lamat just how absurdly dangerous we are.

As the resentment builds, it should boil into open hostility and aggression. She'll have to accuse the player of either attempting to overthrow her to become Dawnservants ourselves, or that we're not who she thought we were and that we're trying to take away the joy of Tuliyollal. (This should not be a trial, it will merely be an instanced fight like Gulool Ja Ja encounters).

she seems pretty understanding that we were never going to accept her offer, so I don't know where any resentment comes into play
I don't think the developers would build her up, and have Sphene be a sort of foil as you mentioned only for her to fall in the same trap
She'll just be another one of the benevolent rulers we have met in our journey, with Koana to keep her impulsiveness in check

Yes that would be the safe route. However, if they don't do something interesting with the story then they're going to just start losing lots players. With the setup they have right now, we can't expect any payoff until the next expansion.

Playing it safe is probably what they'll do but I do think it is a mistake.

The different Raid series are what keep people engaged post-MSQ. The MSQ portions of the patch stories are minuscule in comparison, just a couple hours compared to the 60+ in the "base" MSQ. And DT at it's one-month mark is retaining a higher % of its playerbase than both EW and ShB. The post-MSQ content has even been praised *here* of all places, and if you get out and about, you'll see the "controversial" MSQ is actually quite well-received among the playerbase at large.

We must evict the solution 9 prawns from the source before they have a bloody civil unrest and disperse themselves all over the place. Imagine Pyongyang being fused into Arizona. The people of Tuscan and Phoenix are not happy with their new neighbors.

Everkeep could sink a mile underground and they wouldn't leave. They're too dependent on the technology they use, and I don't think Gridanians are going to be too keen on having soul extraction technology installed anywhere within 300 malms of the Twelveswood.

That's going to be the plot for 8.0. Wuk will spend the entire expansion making tacos for every other faction to get them to accept S9. Then we'll finally have peas.

Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to get rid of Wuk Lamat forever. We already have Wuk Lamat as a villain, and she's called Sphene.

Playing it safe is most likely what SE is going to do, plus it's a trope they enjoy using throughout the final fantasy series.

They also haven't foreshadowed anything regarding her being a potential villain.
When it's clear we were always going to decline, she was very accepting of it and better understood the warrior of light as a person; someone who tends to wander and doesn't settle down - venturing from place to place helping those in need.

Having a sudden heel turn wouldn't satisfy anyone, other than those who outright hate the character and want her either gone from the story entirely, or dead.
Even then it'd be very shallow and not improve anything.

It can be pretty dangerous rhetoric, but she has shown time and again that she strives for peace above all else, wishing for harmony between her land and the rest of the world.

The only reason Alexandria became a target is because of Zoraal Ja's invasion, and even then it wasn't even its people we were after, but him. Then it became Sphene once it was revealed she was complicit in the assault and intended to continue, with no way to convince her otherwise.
