Extra Glamour Plates Aiding Job Identities

The community has asked over and over about additional glamour plates so let me throw my two cents in. I think having a glamour plate for each job would go a long way to help reinforce job identities. YoshiP said that we can't have cross job glamours because mages should look like mages and tanks should look like tanks. Okay, sure. Let us take it a step further.

I want my RDM to rock iconic flashy glam and my SMN to always have a horn. I want my GSM to be decked out in the gaudy gold accessories that they crafted and FSH with tackles and baits attached to their clothing. Give me enough glamour plates to have a unique look for each job I play.

It has been done many times in the past. We initially had 10 glamour plates. Patch 5.0 increased the limit to 15, and patch 6.1 raised it again to 20. Why not set the status quo to have the numbers sync up with current available jobs? Just do it once per expansion as you announce new jobs and have it be a small part of the developmental effort.

The fundamental mistake they made was that their initial implementation of glamour tied glamour to the actual equipment you're wearing; that was a mistake, one that keeps making the glamour system more complex and clunky than it needs to be

Considering that the game is slated to last another decade, it seems like it would be a good idea for them to decouple glamour from equipment. Have every loadout have both glamour slots and equipment slots; gear slots give you stats, and glam slots override the aesthetics of their corresponding equipment slot.

Get a new caster hat? Equip it in your equipment slot, now you've got better stats and your old glamours are still intact until you manually change them. Need to switch to a different job that uses the same gear? Cool, you can easily do that without being in a major city because the glam is part of your loadout, as opposed to something that needs to be reapplied to your equipment whenever you switch jobs. And as a bonus, no more Portraits being unexpectedly reset because you changed your earring.

I really hope they do this someday.
