I don't think they said it was specifically for DoH/DoL. If it was they'd have probably hyped it up the way they did Ishgard Restoration where they called it "endgame content for disciples of the hand and land". I've not seen marketing like this particularly for Cosmic Exploration and in Island Sanctuary they allowed you to do the gathering without a gatherer class.

The graphics have mining pick, some harvested goods and so on. In the interview they compared it to Ishgard few times. If it won't require DoH/DoL then it will be similar to Island Sanctuary - a very side content - but what would be the point/goal then?

Also most 91-100 dungeon groups I get are 3-4 mentors so they wouldn't loose much by making new DoH/DoL content. It could then cooperate with Ishgard Restoration for leveling said jobs. Ishgard to level X then this onward.

Their philosophy is for there to be rewards. They know that people don't do content if there aren't rewards.

Criterion/Variant dungeons died quickly post release due to lack of sensible rewards.

I did few DoH/DoL deliveries in Tural and it was junk reward-wise. If Cosmic Exploration is for DoH/DoL then either I get 100-200 current materia out of it without absurd time sinks or it's dead. 7.3 gear set will require some scrip-gated item so if this content won't allow to just buy it quickly without sitting a week dumping collectibles then it's also dead for me and I'll probably skip till 7.55 and go for the scrip gear.

Need a freelancer or Onion Knight job that can use all the removed abilities from previous expansions. And gets all its stats from number of classes you have leveled up. And can only wear L1 glamor gear.

If you want more content with the Ancients, whether in the time of Amaurot, other historical periods in the game, versions of the story where they're still alive, reincarnation stories, and alternate universe settings entirely, may I recommend a fun little website called archiveofourown.org? It's full of any and all of your favorite FFXIV characters, easily searchable, and the majority of it is written with far more love and care than anything in Dawntrail was.

I don't trust anyone on the current writing team to touch my beloved Ancients after DT. I'll leave the further writing to the fans for now.

You are right that Gaia is an example of one being reincaranted, however that was done well before we met her. Venat and Emet-Selch are both characters that have returned to the lifestream recently. Granted, we don't know in-depth details on how the reincarnation process works but I don't see us encountering them anytime soon.

Besides, both characters ended with coming to terms about how things went.
Venat satisfied with our answer to the impending doom of the final days, and Emet-selch in the resolve of the sundered.
I don't see how bringing them back would serve the story in any meaningful way outside of being fan service.
