Good afternoon everyone!
I would like to start this off with addressing that there is indeed an over coordination issue in Frontlines. This is achieved through macros that place waymarkers repeatedly on top of the "commander" as they move, macros that tell the alliance when certain abilities are coming off of cooldown, and other information to help guide all 24 players. I would like to take this time to state a few things and ask that the developers take a stance one way or the other on this matter.
Patch 2.3 notes, Frontlines was first added to Final Fantasy XIV. Queuing with up to eight players was introduced.
"- Entering Frontline
Players can queue to enter Frontline campaigns alone, or in a party of up to eight players. Although there are no role restrictions when queuing as a party, all party members must be affiliated with the same Grand Company."
I can not find the exact patch it was when they lowered the party size down to four, but i do remember it was to combat the over coordination issue Frontlines was facing at the time. I believe this happened somewhere in Stormblood - Shadowbringers. So it was pretty clear that the developers were against the idea of over coordinated efforts in Frontlines.
Since then, there has been a complete revamp in the PVP abilities which can contribute to these current over coordinated efforts, creating a unfair advantage over the other two Frontlines teams in many scenarios.
So where am i going with this might be the question being asked. I believe the developers should take a definitive stance on the over coordination issues, whether its acceptable, or it is not acceptable.
- If over coordination IS acceptable in Frontlines, I would like to see the return of eight player parties, to hang out with more friends, with the potential of queuing with up to 24 players, seeing that over coordination no longer is considered an issue and becomes the acceptable norm.
- If over coordination is NOT acceptable in Frontlines, I would recommend the removal of placing waymarkers, target markers, and the use of the chat in any capacity while participating in Frontlines, to prevent up to 24 players being directed for the over coordination efforts.
Either way, I would welcome the change as it would be enjoyable to queue up with more friends to help even the odds, or on the other side of the spectrum, prevent players from abusing the current system to help balance the game mode a bit more, so that it is less one sided on most matches.
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread! Have yourselves a wonderful day! Happy PVP'ing!
