WOL, My Dear Friend, and Frequent Poster Fay Fay has passed away.

    Sorry for the long title.

My friend was apparently very active here, so I wanted to make sure that everyone here knew. My dear friend Fay Fay passed away suddenly last week.

He had about 40 toons, so you may have met my Fay at some point. Fay always went by Fay. Ever. Single. Toon. Was named Fay. Fay and some punny last name. Mostly miqo girls but he did have a lala, a hrothgar, at least one bun and a lizart.

Fay was an absolute lore fiend. Infact, he knew we were going to the first before they announced it. He even posted about it here.

Fay was a great guy, absolutely obsessed with crafting, and was so well known for his interior design skills tha he made quite a bit of gil traveling to other servers to make toons to customize people houses and apartments. it was made all the more fascinating because he did everything on console.

Fay was so good at interior design tha people just assumed he was a girl and he just stopped correcting him.

I'm not saying my Fay was all Fays... but he was at LEAST 30% of fays. (This is only mildly a joke.)

So if you are a friend of one of Fays many alts or just knew him from these forums... I'm sorry you had to find out this way. If it's any consolation he passed in his sleep. He just woke up in the Aetherial Sea so to speak. (It doesn't make it any better... I still want my friend.)

If you are lookin for more specific details to figure out if my Fay was your Fay. He was an Aussie and a baker irl.

I've made this post on three different platforms and I still don't know how to end it. Just tell your friends you love them and if you have a Fay house plz lemme know so I can get on one of my alts and visit.

    Thank you

I am so so sorry for your loss - I've lost several FFXIV players very dear to me who have passed away over the years and you never stop missing them.

Unfortunately, I don't recognize your friend's character name I'm sorry, but, have you tried doing a Lodestone character search (if you know what their 'main' was - as in, what character they prefered to spend most of their time playing as, then that can narrow things down, especially if you also know their server). Also, you could try a forum member search at the top of the page if they were a member of the forum which could also narrow things down.

Once again, please accept my deepest condolances for your loss. *hugs tightly*

Fay the Aussie Baker will be missed. Vale, my friend.

A smile better suits a hero.

I come back in to edit. I have to say more, because it matters. One can't be sure that any of our Fays were the same, but one can still honour all of our Fae's who have shared part of our amazing journey. And it takes time to write something fitting of a hero.

It's these friends, those who are so close to us. The joy from friendship and from teamwork. They are why we play the game after all.

From EQ to WoW to EQ2 to Rift to BDO to SL to Aion Online to Archeage to Landmark to any million other free MMOs. We play these games to be with our friends, to make friends, and part of that always, with a tear in one's eye and a glow in one's heart, is to lose friends.

When we leave the game, after we say our final cheery 'Bye '; our avatar is left on that server and some of the more physical forms of our achievements shatter like a puff of blue crystalline æther glimmering and reflecting in the light as the fanfare plays. But the memory remains. The spark we left in the other's hearts. The spark they left in ours. That's where it is. The hours, days, months, and years we spent with that person. How close you got to them. How special they were to you.

And always, in that joy. The joy formed from that intense bond as you build a family in creating your guild, gather your friends, gather your crafters, practice, learn the dance, as you finesse the rotation, as you spend weeks in constant contact with a very close group of friends. Until you get it. Until you pause in silence, the boss still falling on the screen at 0 HP, and you cheer. That memory never ends (even if Fae and I sat on the bench, we had our joy in the prep and org). We carry that memory forever. That memory changes us.

My guild mates are always my family. My Fae was in that kin.

My Fay predates FFXIV in EQ2. But they were named Fay, on every alt. My Fay was named Fae and she was a Fae. And they were so expert at house glitching. I mean Fay's building skill couldn't be surpassed, by anyone. She could see things that nobody else could when merging two bits of furniture together. She was one of my guild leaders, and the most amazing person. My Fay could solve any conflict in the guild, but we didn't need to, all of us were a family. My Fae built me a house in Kelethan in EQ2. As EQ2 doesn't delete one's housing achievements that house, is still there.

My Fae, was a gentleman of the highest calibre. A Mate in the truest Aussie sense. My Fae, She's not gone.

    My condolences for your loss.

If I may ask, what race was your friend typically playing on Shiva? I'm now wondering if he was the Miqo'te who kindly showed me how to glitch my aquarium onto other furniture way back when those were introduced in 3.x as the name does ring a bell.

After hearing the News from you ingame, i immediately dropped down. He was such an awesome guy and one of the first
connections and friends i made after coming back from the beta. His sense for lore and interior design was definitely unmatched, at least for me.
He showed me a few tricks to have it easier at housing and crafting.
His 'obsession' with creatin alts kinda inspired me, because i've got more alts than i want to acknowledge.
I'm thankful and grateful for the opportunity to not just met but also befriended him.

He's on his next Journey, his big unknown adventure and i wish him clear sight and calm tides, may his adventure be filled with book packing lores.

    Rest in Piece, Fay Fay
