way too many "casual" players that'd bitch and moan about this, they complained about an axolotl mount for gods sake...All my side Jobs sitting at 90, being neglected like the middle children...
Leveling is such a repetitive pain and unsatisfying grind, that burns out any sane mind... Why not make it a little more interesting and rewarding?
My proposal:
Make Ultimates give an ungodly amount of exp. Specifically make them give perfectly enough exp to bump you +10 levels from the Ultimate's original level.
So UwU and UCoB push you from 70-80,
TEA from 80-90,
DSR and TOP from 90-100.
That way there is actual incentive to do it and to learn other jobs.
It would reward being good at the game, increase job diversity as more people would actually learn more jobs and cause an outrage among casuals for everyone to enjoy. No downsides.
What do you think? Make this post blow up or be forgotten... Whatever it shall be, SqEx ignores it anyway...... UNLESS?
Edit: Let me add, that ofc u have to be gatekept somehow, otherwise this wouldn't be ffxiv! So to unlock the exp feature on a patch n.1 / n.3 ultimate you will have to finish the n+1.0 patch MSQ
The story is the main focus but it not like we get to experience it and get msq exp with more than like, 2 classes at best for each xpac. I don't mind leveling like, 2 classes with the story, since the MSQ xp is fine and make you progress, well, with the story. But when it time to level the like, 16 others classes in the game you basicly just have dailies and after that the xp gain is painfully slow.I don't know GW2 very well (I tried it out for a few weeks, wasn't terribly impressed, haven't touched it since), but in WoW, the endgame is the main focus and leveling is just the time sink to get to it. In FFXIV, the story is the main focus, so leveling faster doesn't really matter much unless you also buy a story skip, because the story is gonna gate the content anyway.
why do you have to level all the jobs right away? The next expansion comes out in two years.
It'll be much quicker once the new field operation is released
Someone else already went over the different ways to quickly level, so I won't go into too much depth there
Running Aglaia nonstop though is very tedious, but I've only done that a handful of times
Wait, what? Your statements conflict. If most people won't do an ultimate to level, why is +10 broken then? If they only get 3/4 of a bar like you say yeah they wouldn't be incentivized. Which statement are you trying to lean on here?
They don't conflict.
Players that don't do ultimate won't be incentivized, but this does not detract from how broken a levelling method it would be for those that do the content and have learned that content, as you would effectively be giving people 10 levels worth of level-relevant exp for those that engage in that specific content. I am not averse to ultimates granting exp, just the rate of EXP that OP proposes.

My only issue is I really don't want to spam roulettes anymore, and that's kinda the easiest way. It's just that after 11 years, I just don't want to anymore.
It's not as bad in EW. In EW, it felt like getting to 85 was a chore. After that was much easier, but getting past 85 made me want to stop doing it a few times. But I haven't had any issues from 90 to 100 besides general boredom and the woes of leveling up in synced combat, so your class never changes. But that's more an issue with the game in general rather than a complaint towards the leveling experience.
Frontline gives almost half xp bar, plus the tomes. Not bad for not even 20 minutes a day.
Don't look back, that's not the way you're going.
