As a Quebecois who follow french politic, Trust me, you would be surprised how much France as ingrained modern brainrot. The main difference is that French people do love to complain, like a lot so there a big push back mouvement to that.

In Quebec it more tame, for the simple reason we where already inclusive before the whole US brain rot began. So when some SJW mouvements try to lecture people, they quickly get called out on their bs. A good exemple is that we don't get some SJW bubble kind of mouvement in our university. Reason is we got tons of french-speaking foreigners who come to study here. Since they are away from home, they get an extra economical pressure from the fact they have to pay rent and food and that make them generally outperform the rest of the class, since they put more effort in their work. So you know, these people don't really like when some random keyboard warrior come and try to speak on their behalf about the hardship of being a minority.

I'm South American (brazilian) and honestly, I don't understand that weird, obsessive push for "cultural appropriate voice actors". It's *voice acting*.
It doesn't - it shouldn't - matter what the person behind the voice is, where they come from or looks like, what should matter is the quality of the acting, how the voice sounds, and how well it fits the character. Why do people care so much about it?
I play with JP voices, so I don't know, but from what I've heard, Bakool Ja Ja's voice was well received because the actor did a good job. That's what matters most. The majority of people wouldn't go out of their way to research the VA's background and change their opinion on the acting they just heard if they don't align with the "expected" culture. Also, it's a fantasy world, inspired by many different South American cultures mixed together to make a new one - it's not a documentary. It doesn't matter.

For us, that obsessive push for cultural sensitivity is such a weird, north-American thing, that fails to understand the situation and pushes for the wrong solutions for problems they just created and we don't actually care about.
Just...don't be maliciously offensive about another culture. Don't pretend to know them better than themselves. That's it.
    And also, don't use "latinx".

You are right, it very much is.

"I don't care what they taught you in school -Cleopatra was black" - that is the perfect example of their "attitude".

Unfortunately, most of US based corpos are infected with this virus and considering their reach, it's rapidly spreading all over the world.

This so much. BOTH sides of politics in the USA seem so completely radicalised in their beliefs and the hatred of "the other". As an European reading discussion/the news it's so baffling how the masses embrace the nonsense.

I don't understand what half the things mean OP mentioned but why does it even matter what is going on the the personal lives of the voice talents? I like the performance of both characters that have been mentioned but why does it matter where they are from or what their personal views are on things. For example, Phil LaMarr voiced Samurai Jack and last time I checked he isn't Japanese but does he have to be to voice a character based on a samurai? I don't think so. If you have the talent to do so, you should be able to voice any character that suits your range because that is part of the job, you are a voice actor and a good actor can play many different roles. And isn't that the beautiful part of voice acting in particular, the fact that only your voice matters? Meaning that no matter what you look like, your voice can be lend to any kind of character. Like an adult would probably have a hard time portraying a child character in a movie whereas an adult could 100% voice a child character and make it sound believable.

Culturally appropriate voice acting contributes to a richer, more inclusive delivery of the story. When diverse cultures are represented with the respect and authenticity they deserve, overall the ability to deliver the story improves.

Also, avoiding harmful stereotypes when engaging in a story with BIPOC characters is important in celebrating the culture respectfully. Someone already mentioned earlier, the characters with "Jaja" in their names... That would have been a disaster had SE not gone the extra mile to actually include diverse voices in the playing of these characters.

My Spanish isn't the best so hearing a made up gender on a word takes all my processing power to figure out WTF they're trying to say.
The only time I've heard or saw the attempt of the gender neutral one, the one ending in "e", it's usually from politicians or companies, and every time the response I see it's "habla bien" followed by a swear word.
If I heard someone using it in conversation, I'm pretty sure I would walk away. I'd rather appear rude than hear that.

Please, for the love of all that's unholy, find a new way to deal with your personal sense of guilt.

One that doesn't include being condescending to anyone "below" you.
