    While running through Gridania the other day I felt the exact same way. That it doesn't feel like a city. And also all for bringing the Hunt/Mark system from FF 12. I always felt it was brilliant and would fit perfectly in an MMO. Technically it's basically like standard kill quests but the Marks in 12 were just so much more fun.

    Adventuring to the far reaches of the world, solving little puzzles to force them to come out, and having crazy fights. Honestly it was just so much fun and knowing the battle designer from XI and XII was working on XIV I thought for sure Mark hunting would make it to XIV at first. Heck I'm surprised no MMO I've played has yet to come up with an identical system. I think it would make for a bigger difference then most dev's realize.

    This thread reminded me of an awesome article on Massivity about how RP enhances MMO longevity.

    And it is VERY LIKELY that we see things imported from FFXII in XIV:ARR, since some of the main members of the team have worked on the game.

    XII is my second favorite FF game, after VII, and the last excellent one, but don't ask me why, I don't even know myself.

    I feel similar. While I hated XII at first because of it's story, which is what I loved the FF series for. On my second play through I delved deep into the Mark system and focused more on the side quests and those were brilliant. Who can ever forget suddenly finding themselves cornered by Gilgamesh and facing off against his Swords of Legend. Or running circles trying to keep up with the fabled White Chocobo. Or accidentally falling into an Esper's lair while hunting something else entirely.

    XII had the best side quest system ever in the entire FF series by leaps and bounds. And they did it without loading it up with cinematics and voice acting. Leading me to feel it'd be perfect for an MMO.

    Honestly I always felt if they just took FF XII and activated an "MMO Switch" That alone would be more fun then most MMO's I've played.

    Must of the emotes we have look almost identical on most races.

    This started to bug me when I found out that Hyur and Miqote /pray look identical even though their hume/mithra counterparts had very different /heal animations.

    -miqo'te tail movement please. I almost regret rolling Miqo'te just for this reason.
    -taverns for getting leves... Hello SE your freaking opening CGI had a Hume, miqo'te, and elvaan in a tavern getting leves.
    -npcs that react to your emotes (think fable) would be awesome. Have the chocobo rental guy thinking your mental cuz you keep /psych'ing lol

    Walking NPC's would be great.

    But honestly, one of the big things that bothers the fuck outta me about FFXIV is that there is no varied cast animations. They are ALL the same pretty much. I really hope this is addressed come 2.0. I mean, even FFXI had different animations for Summoning, Black, and White magic. Not to mention each race's casting animations were a bit different.
