    I think it's just dead. /prods it with a stick.

    I'd like to see if our magical, largely unexplained, echo powers will come into play or if that was just one of the many things thrown to the wayside and forgotten with the old main scenario.
    Also a few times in the Dalamund arc seemed to very subtly suggest that we may have had some previous history with the Garleanians but I haven't seen that amount to anything after the latest patch.

    Judging by the opening movie, midgardsomer is what happens when all the primals are summoned in concert ( I'm guessing that based on the fact that you can fairly clearly see Titan and Ifrit in the beams of light coming out of him when he dies. )

    Also there is some more info on him on the teaser site under the Mor Dhona section that heavily implies he's dead dead.

    Yeah, you can clearly see that he's decayed quite a bit. However, nothing is impossible in the worlds of Final Fantasy, so I'm sure there's a way to revive him.
