Listing Larian titles only as 'good RPGs', lmao. Baldur's Gate without the mocapping and voice acting would be extremely underrated compared to other CRPGs on the market. It's not BAD but my god, you can do better for RPG mechanics.

I mean, for me Glamour and collecting is actually a big part of it. I always loved playing the Sims and I loved Monster Hunter and collecting cool armor sets.
And I really love all the great armor designs in FF14. You can combine armor sets with each other and create a cool unique character. There are even glamour sites to inspire you in creating cool outfits.
I was actually doing Bozja to level up my Machinist, because I wanted to finally have all Gun-wielding jobs at max-level (GNB, MCH and SGE). I also finished the Bozja storyline.
I enjoyed Bozja a lot and I am very excited for the new field exploration content.
Otherwise I am also kinda enjoying crafting and selling stuff on the market board or sometimes crafting stuff for friends to gear them up. I decided to finally level all my crafters to take part in Cosmic Exploration (if it is crafters only content).
I also really enjoyed DT story and lore.
Other times I just roam around and try to immerse myself into world or maybe also do some tavern RP (not night club RP).
Or sometimes I just join random groups to help people out. I also kinda enjoy all the funny banter in Hunt trains and goof around with everyone.
So for me personally there is a lot of stuff to do after logging in.
Back in 2004 I first played World of Warcraft to immerse myself as a Tauren in a vast online world with other players and even though WoW sadly has lost that feeling for me, I can still immerse myself into FF14 and feel like I am playing as a Hyur Gunbreaker in an online world with others players.
Also I just love Final Fantasy games! I am a long-time fan of the series, since I was a teenager. I basically grew up with FF games and FF14 is a love-letter to the whole franchise.
And I guess this is propably true for a lot of long-time fans of the series. A lot of people propably love and enjoy this game, because it is Final Fantasy!
I mean even the creator of the series plays the game and enjoys all the nods to the old games.
I mean Final Fantasy is so well-known in Japan, that there are even references and nods to Final Fantasy games in different Animes. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter are one of the most well-known franchises in Japan.
If you are into JRPGs, you propably have played a FF game at least once.
I know it can be sad, if you don't enjoy MMOs anymore, but I personally still feel like back then and am enjoying every minute of it.
If I can give you a little tip (you don't have to follow it if you don't want), try not to focus too much on "accomplishing" stuff or crossing off a bucket list of goals.
Instead try to immerse yourself in the world and just enjoy the game like a piece of art for a while and not as a "competitive sport" (I don't know if you do, I just assumed, because of the wording you chose to describe the game).
You don't have to follow my advice and your post might also be just bait, but I still wanted to take you seriously and answer your question accordingly.

what's ERP?
Uh oh.. I didn't know the game was rated 18+....
It's shorthand for "Extreme Raid Progression" and the term comes from back in the day before Alexander when the hardest raids in the game were extremes. It's how they pug'd in the city states before duty roulette. So the next time you need a fill for your raid prog just go and ask someone "Hey, do you wanna ERP with me?"
It's also common practice to announce in shout chat when your party fills for raid. You just put "I'm off to ERP!" in Limsa's shout chat before you enter the instance as is tradition. Hope this helps
After reading your first post i thought you would bait a few coping mmorpg "veteran" and I'm not disappointed ! God forbid someone point out again how stale and boring the current formula is, we wouldn't want to have fun activities on a regular basis now would we ?
Example of something low cost and simple to implement that they could and should add for the sake of proposing decent content : A weekly arena pitting 2 bosses from regular dungeons, max level, shared hp pool, multiple level of difficulty with different reward.
But who am I kidding ? They can't even put headgear on 2 races years after release so imagine tweaking a pair of bosses attack pattern and allow them to be fought together on a weekly basis
Why create and add new fun toys when you can just throw the same old wooden stick to the playerbase and see how much "fun" they have with it. This is just sad.
Hacks have always been around, but never before have they been as prominent as they are now
At this point in the game, people are so dependent on them- whether for advantage or not, people have made hacking the game part of their core "reason" to play
I wonder just how heavy of a subscription hit XIV will get if they ever implement even the most basic protection
Go to limsa- scratch that, anywhere and read peoples search comments and understand what workaround terms they're putting on display
Whether you're ignorant of it or not, this is happening now
It's not the game nor the community it was in ARR. It's a hack game.
