    Suggestion: Job Difficulties

    Hey there,

never posted here and probably never will again, but I had to get this off my mind. I did a quick search of the forum, but didn't find anything similar to this, so here goes:

This came up after hearing about Viper being nerfed very soon after it was released with Dawntrail, due to it apparently being "too difficult" and many people complaining about it not being fun anymore after the changes. So, how about having two difficulties for each job (or at least the ones that seem more complicated), in order for both casual players as well as veteran players to enjoy them? Casual players would be able to choose the easier setting and just play through the MSQ without needing to learn a super complex rotation, because they probably don't care for savage content or similar higher end content anyway, so it wouldn't matter that much, while the more experienced players that are looking for a challenge (and also more excitement in their gameplay) can choose the difficult setting and actually enjoy the game again. Of course, this would also come with a difference in damage output. The "easy" version would be more than enough for getting through the MSQ and people who don't care about DPS checks or where it's not needed, for example when going through regular dungeons. Anyone participating in higher difficulty content would then have something more complex to play around with and actually master their job. Maybe it should even be a necessity to learn the difficult version of a job to get through savage, ultimate, etc., because otherwise the job would not hit the DPS checks. That is not to say that you wouldn't be able to play the difficult version in regular dungeons and the easy version in savage, if you so choose.

I understand that, as a company, SE wants to reach as many players as possible, but just dumbing everything down so even the most casual player can get through the game doesn't seem to be it. I myself am going to leave FFXIV now, because I don't enjoy playing any of the jobs anymore. Even the more "difficult" ones feel repetitive and boring after a while. Maybe it's just me, but that's my suggestion for making the game enjoyable for everyone without having to nerf the difficulty of jobs all the time. This could also apply to Astrologian for example, with the different sects. Unfortunately, I never got to experience that version of the job, because it was removed before I started playing the game, but I've heard good things about it from other players who did.

So anyway, I don't know if any of the devs will ever read this or even care, but there it is. Do with it what you will, I'm out.

A lot of people in savage don't like pressing buttons either and that's how lazy this community is. Is it in places where raiders hang out that I've seen several times the idea of making a full rotation in a single button, similar to how continuation works with GNB but with the whole thing. And awful feedback like that is how they ended with the current awful gameplay of healers being one button, because the lazy ones complained too much. The result: a game for casuals.

We play this game to have some "regular" fun, we go somewhere else when we want an actual personal fun challenge. Because making ultimates harder and harder is a bigger challenge but it is not fun, the devs simply don't understand how to balance both fun and difficulty. You're leaving for that same reason. We look somewhere else when we want that one thing FF refuses to accept and nerf every time a casual complains.
