You posted a picture of Dalamund and in lieu of that people automatically decided that's that this thread was about.Your point was fallacious as it has nothing to do with the subject matter of the game.
If anything, the contrast between how he created a "The Sky is Blue" verse mine proves MY point that it is the tone and construct of a thread that matters.
He made "The sky is blue" added no context in a place that requires it, and writes 'let's see what happens'. That's easily a troll post in a General Discussion board about Final Fantasy XIV.
Here, I took that very same phrase, and made it relevant to FFXIV and the current events, and did so in a positive light.
Let's see which garners fewer insults.
If you had posted a picture like this:
Titled "The sky is blue in this picture" I bet the results would have been the same as the other thread.
Because the resulting responce would be "... and?"
You're not making a discussion topic at that point. You are making a statement of fact- that's not is not the proper way to make a thread.
The color of the sky is an irrevant topic to FFXIV, and it is irrelvant to the point of your argument - a red herring, if you will.
The point you were trying to prove, and have lost sight of, is that 90% of the threads in this forum will disolve into arguments regardless of what the topic is or how it is made.
But look at my thread creation history a moment.
None of them have dissolved into heated flame wars. Every time someone attempted, I diffused it.
I even turned a 'yet another complaint about the lack of 2.0 info thread' into something everyone could laugh at.
Tone is everything here.
Edit:
Nvm I need to stop wasting my time and get some crafting done.
