    Explanation for why/how Tops remove details from Pants/"Waist" area?

    This isn't really a new thing but I'm curious what the reasoning is for how things turn out this way. I know it makes sense why arm pieces change how tops look and how foot pieces change how pants look at the bottom ends, but the "waist" stuff interacting with the tops seems a little baffling.

    Example:


    The hanging pieces are just straight up gone.
