might depend on dc. While i playing on light i have never issues to find a spot as a healer same goes for chaos. but i saw many NA pfs where its quite hard if you are not ( for ever reason ) a barrear healer.Dunno, this hasnt been my experience in PF, I am a phys ranged and a healer, but I mostly cant get into parties cuz there is a MCH in every one of them. I went healer cuz I wanted to learn to heal this tier, but I can only do wHM, whcih is a spot thats always filled in every PF I try to enter too lol.
It's a mixed bag, truly. There are also groups of (sub)healers who were legitimately babified by Asphodelos tier, thinking they can get by with same methodical approach going into Abyssos only to get slapped hard.let make my stand clear i totally agree with everything you say. Thats why i actually enjoyed Pandemonium 8 so much when it was fresh. the incomming dmg with the bleed debuff been hitting so hard if you slept for one sec or did a glare to much people just died. This was actually fun i had to heal like its in the name not green dps its HEAL. The problem is you have a big number of players who for a stupid reason want to deal more dmg as a HEALERso the players are ( again ) split in grps. Some want more healing and intresting heal encounters, while other want be a dps with faster queue times.
i saw many posts where people been litterally crying about healing in contentlike it hurts in their soul to use a GCD to heal once in 10 minutes. People in this game are so upsessed with dmg thats incredible. I remember once my co heal thought its a great idea to broil his way through the soft enrage of Gaya in Eden 12 on release XD and when people ask him what he was thinking the reacton was like dmg is more important then healing

this is the only real answerHealers are pretty pissed and or demoralized because self sustain of tanks and their ability to heal the raid is so broken that I lack the words for it.
Self sustain in general needs to be dialed back to make healers needed.
Healing also needs to be more interesting as healing requirements are so low that we have to dps out of boredom. You know, have healers actually need to heal a majority of time.
Devs should consider looking at other games perhaps to better understand how to make healing more interesting and not falling back on dps all the time.
Are people surprised? Rphys has always been the forgotten role that nobody cares about, left in dereliction for years because everybody pretends that it's fine, but meanwhile casters and melees get all the attention.
Now that DT has released we have a combination of things:
- No new rphys, while there is a new melee dps (that is extremely approachable on top of it) and a new caster dps (that is overtuned and easier than BLM). Melee dps are the role that fills the faster in PF even though there is 2 slots for it, it's the spoiled role of the game and has been since forever.
- rphys is in the ditch damage wise like at every expansion launch with more than 10% output behind melees and non rezzing casters.
- See the patchnotes for the changes to rphys, there is a single line about it. Nobody at SE cares. Nobody knows what rphys is supposed to be anymore.
I have no issues filling parties on Aether. I don't think it's people being dissatisfied with the jobs more is it people are probably just on other data centers.
Lol why would anyone play those garbage roles? If someone wants to do big damage with good mobility and some party mitigation, melee and casters offer that. And if they want to heal, mitigate, shield and protect the party but still do pretty good damage with an actual rotation, they can play tank. Ranged and healers are the roles people wish someone else would play so they don't have to and it's been like that since at least Endwalker.

I still feel they need to limit that somehow, the solution cant be to have 14574 unfilled parties just because one party is Ilvl 709 but the other one demands 711, or because two tanks only can play DK and dont wanna be in the same party for whatever reasons...
And i really get at one point youre sick of wipes, but ppl really need to accept that sometimes you need to play with a progress group below your point. Like for the usual Ex trial when there are like 3 parties "before the adds" and three "after adds!" that would fill each other perfectly but yet they still rather clutter the PF, wait 2x as long as any wipes would take and thin out the already thin playerbase even more...
There are indeed shortage of healers in latter floors of savage rn.
Fun snippet from Light DC from some M4S party:

The problem is congestion, cross-server nonsense, and the Savage's being particularly easy. I'm not complaining about easy Savages mind you, but they are so easy you can PF them. Which means the large bulk of PF groups I've seen are Savage groups. Swarms upon swarms upon swarms of people PF'ing Savages. And when everyone is sitting in a queue to fill their party, that means they aren't considering or moving to join yours. Waiting for those last two slots in their prog-to-clear practice group is too important to consider doing something lesser, you see.what is going on in pf I spend hours sitting in groups for them to never fill waiting for healers or Physical Ranged, then the group just falls apart and i jump to the next one. I have never had this hard of a time getting into a full pf group before. Did everyone just quit playing healer and phy ranged or something?
I quit half way through Endwalker and came back switched to tank for the first time since ARR which doesn't help because every pf is always filled up with tanks
