unable to detect direct x divice

Hello all,

Im sure this thread is somewhere within these forums but I only searched through some them.

Occassionally the game will crash stating "unable to detect directx device."
Ive researched google and tried turning different settings on and off resulting in delaying the crash but it still happens, just not as frequently. Im running a new alienware laptop, hope its not the problem.

Any info or advice is appreciated.

update your drivers and bios.

what are the specs on the laptop?

Don't let any other window steal focus. Typical example is this always happens to me iff any kind of upgrade kicks in or something like that.

This is most likely happening because another window or taskbar notification is popping up. It's an issue with the game's fullscreen mode unable to continue if another window grabs priority. Disable anything that might have pop-ups, or play in windowed mode to fix it.
