Samurai LB and frontlines

In frontlines, the LB for Samurai is meant to just a troll tool. As there isn't anything deeper than being a samurai who intentionally goes where they shouldn't be to just try and get one or more cheeky kills. And I say this as someone playing the job.

Its actual kit outside of that is just: Soten + Hyotsetsu, or Soten + Mineuchi. Maybe Meikyo Shishui as a discount purify as some roots/heavys you and runs away, and if they don't stop running, its more likely Midare gets interrupted anyway unless you use the root or bind.

Oh sure it has Ogi Namikiri or Oka, but it feels really limp to actually do meaningfull things to them other than to be annoyance and loops back into Chiten gameplay. I gotten more kills with Zantetsuken (LB) by appearing to be afk in some place I shouldn't be than what the devs intended.

casualy playing astro to heal your BF and team, using macrocosmos, geting 1 shot from 100000 meters away with no way to defend yourself. At least you can screw up ninja fishing for LB by cheeky hea above 50%.
But seriously. All off frontline skills need a change. Some jobs are dead and unplayable (sage, red mage, bard....) some are broken and need a whole world to be rebuild to make them ballanced (we know their names)
P.S. its not an issue because why play samurai for a silly cheeky 1 shot across the map when you can play THE TEAM and get 100 kills combined?

Red mage is pretty good, you can engage and disengage fights independently.
The White Magic Melee combo comes with a baked in shield that gets even more potent if you use Engagement/Magicked Barrier, this is ontop if its superior % damage reduction making it tankier than other ranged classes.
It has a dual function heal + DMG LB, Ranged AoE CC (bind/silence) that can prevent engagements.

Samurai is a minor threat to anything that can create a self shield near instantly, being max health and having any substance of barrier will prevent you from dying from their LB so some classes like WAR,RDM,NIN,MNK don't have to respect a SAM's Chiten, since it's just a knowledge check.

OP is not wrong though, Samurai's playstyle in FL is like an irritating fly buzzing around the enemy hoping that they fall for the trap and retaliate against them.

Getting killed by SAM always feels cheap, especially when you unknowingly clip them with AoE. Their gameplay makes them seem like divas who try to make everyone touch them so that they can throw a fit when someone accidently brushes up against them.

Yeah I just think SAM is dumb in FL, particularly in choke points. I've got zapped by them without ever realizing a SAM was buried somewhere beneath a Bahamut or Picto cupcakes or all the other mess that even low graphics produces.

I think there is some value in a job that has the capability to wipe out a max BH player instantly, as they can feel invincible at times with the bonus healing they get. Of course, someone who can get max BH on a non-ninja job is probably decent enough to not get baited by a SAM player but the mere presence of one nearby can act as a deterrent.

just wanted to put this out there but it does not 1 shot a person with bh5 unless they have taken like 20% hp. iv lived many times with the debuff applied. I still don't like it tho and understand completely the hate it gets haha

Samurai LB is a cheap ass trick and it doesn't belong in PvP period. OHKO's are weak gameplay. I'd prefer if their LB just reflected incoming damage back at the people who casted it, and the LB meter recharged quicker.

Ooh, I like that idea a lot. A far more interesting mechanic.

It does exactly 100% of the target's HP in damage, which means that if you have some shields on top of it at the moment you get hit, you will survive it. It's an easy LB to bait with a lot of jobs that have on demand shields.
