Weekly reset question (Savage)

I was trying for a last minute M4s clear and the group I joined entered before reset but wiped with insufficient time to clear properly before reset time, so I went to leave and some guy claimed that as long as you enter and pull before reset, if you clear the loot is considered last week's (doesn't count as new week's loot).

Is this really true? I really didn't want to play chicken with a whole week's worth of loot with friends waiting to do weekly clears together, so I left anyway. Daily resets don't work this way so I call BS but I'd like to get actual confirmation.

I vaguely recall an urgent patch sometime in the previous recent expansions where they made an adjustment to this specifically.

It does say that if the registration period overlaps with the weekly reset then registration will be cancelled.

It is true. If you enter 1 minute before reset and clear, it is still considered the prior week's instance, and thus your loot won't be affected if you clear.
