How is it that every time a Mentor gets in my instance they are always the worst one by far? Just had a Bardam's Mettle where a Mentor WHM couldn't keep me alive and I got kicked because I wasn't pulling as small as they liked, went back in later with another WHM and they had no problem keeping me alive.

Does anyone else notice that Mentors always are the worst or is this just me?

In my opinion if the healer or tank says they want smaller pulls then just do smaller pulls. At the end of the day the run is not going to be faster because deaths WILL happen. Mentor doesnt mean you're an excellent player it just means your willing to help out new ppl any way you can.

I think that's the best explanation I've seen. Look at the requirements: Complete role quests on Tank, Healer and DPS, complete 1000 dungeons/raids/trials and have 1500 commendations. The bar is very low. Nowhere does it say to be in the top 1% of your job. Nor does it say you have to complete savage in week 1.

When I hear mentors are degrading other players, I get disappointed. But, nowhere in the job description does it say they have to be a great player.

You don't need to be a great player to keep a tank alive for the typical pull of Bardam's mettle. That's asking for general competence, not savage-tier raiding. I swear you people bring out savage so much as a strawman it's so boring.

It's not very difficult to get the mentor crown tbh
the only 'hard' part would be the commendation requirement, but if you play a tank or healer you'll get those pretty frequently

It's not that they should be mistake free but I know to unlock mentor you need to have max level in a tank, dps, and healer, and you need like 1500 commendations. So with all that play time how do some Mentors still not understand the fundamentals of their classes? I'm not saying a player should be perfect but when I get a mentor who is constantly using cure 1 instead of cure 2 and never uses any other healing when I use all my mits and invuln and I'm still dropping I do not get it.

There are 3 roles but a lot more jobs. Atm with the new expansion, people are levelling different jobs and it may have been a job they are not too familiar with. Personally I go with trusts first to get a refresher on those jobs but I got caught queuing on astro last week while fixing glamours thinking I had queued on sage and I was like how does this work again? I was reading my tooltips as we were moving as I had not touched that job since about 3 yrs...
