I don't understand why positionals are the target of "discussions" all the time.
Only when melee jobs get interesting additions can we start to consider removing them. And I will personally never want them out. Until then, no, no removals.

This is what I feel most people who say "just remove positionals we have true north anyway" don't think about. Until we have a majority of combat content that cannot be done while scrolling through your phone at the same time, there needs to be something there. Right now, part of that is positionals. It's not necessarily a great part, but we need one-two more expansions worth of decently engaging combat content, CONSISTENTLY, before we should be talking about removing things that make you pay attention.
And to be clear, I don't mean just savage and stuff, I mean ALL combat content.
And back on the topic of the viper changes, just revert them. Leave it alone. Never rework a job again without giving it time to cook. Does anyone remember back in HW when MCH launched and people were saying it's trash and needs to be changed and Yoshi-P said "you're doing it wrong". Couple of weeks later, turns out, people were doing it wrong. Just like the "people" (and I say this in quotes because nobody seems to have any idea who this feedback about viper initially came from) who asked for viper changes a couple of days into it existing.
I wish we could take this message and force feed it to Yoshi-P and the job team. Its so incredibly obvious that Square has had no confidence in Viper as their product, its mind boggling. Adding in that Yoshi-P directly said the team was done with oversimplifications, makes them announcing the gameplay nerfs not even a week after early access had dropped even more weird. And back on the topic of the viper changes, just revert them. RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
