Is this a bug? - Frontlines

Hello!

While I was browsing the frontlines achievements that I've got and those that are in progress. I noticed that I had 0 victories with the Immortal Flames, which was weird when Twin Adders and Maelstrom both had wins around 20.

At first, I shrugged it off as a mere coincidence "Meh, maybe I didn't really win any frontlines with the flames before?"

However, today I won with the Immortal Flames, but was surprised the achievement didn't pop up, so I checked it, and it still says 0 victories with the Immortal Flames.

Before I say it's a bug, I need to know whether these types of achievements track victories for the faction that I won with inside the frontline, or do they actually count the original faction that I belong with? I didn't track the others, but I'll be writing down my wins with each one in order to make sure whether this is a bug to report or not.

Wins track the current grand company you represent I believe. Was your grandcompany set to Maelstrom and switched to Twin Adders and vice versa?

Its based on your character's GC, not the team you are in during frontlines.

We used to always fight as our GC so the achievements only count to our current GC.

The problem was mostly people choose Limsa as their GC so victories were skewed in their favor and it was all imbalanced. So they created a merc feature and then decided to force it to happen always. But the achievements still base on your current GC and it may or may not take some spaghetti code untangling to make it more logical to how the system works now.

I believe there is also a duty finder setting to force it to always leave you on your GC's team, but can effect queue times somewhat.

The setting was removed and you are forced onto a random team now.

I do believe it does try to prioritize your actual GC, but if there's a lack of players from other GCs it will start assigning people to those teams.

Strange then how I (a Twin Adder) usually have been on Maelstrom despite it clearly being the most popular GC. It just seems like RNG to me.

I wasn't around back then, but if I recall how it used to work it was you always fought under what Grand Company you picked. However, Limsa / Maelstrom was the most popular by far so everyone always picked it, making things fairly unbalanced and also resulting in extremely long cue times as a result. So eventually they implemented an opt-in mercenary system of sorts to try and get some people to play for the other teams, and then changed it again by just removing the Frontlines GC restriction stuff and assigned everyone to one of the three teams randomly to make it always fill.

Some of the achievements though still track based on what GC your character is currently in. So if you're currently in the Immortal Flames GC, you can ONLY get progress for the Immortal Flames side of achievements when you do Frontlines, even if you get put on Adders / Mael team.,
