Unlock crafter & gatherer gear restrictions

It's about time to let us use those sets for other jobs and outfits. It's a bummer, they dish out so many new crafter/gatherer glams, but you can't really use them as they're locked to their specific class. Once you swap to another crafter, it's not gonna work. So why bother locking them?

    Honestly this.
I legitimately didn't realise crafter artefact sets were a thinh until recently and I've yet to see them being worn out in the world.

The game so heavily encourages you to be an omnicrafter AND level them all at the same time. "Goldsmith identity" (or insert any job here) doesn't exist, if it ever did. Literally, when do you even equip these instead of the best crafted armor, which you make yourself anyway?

They should really open these sets up, at least to be used by all crafters/gatherers for glam.

This should apply to ALL classes honestly. Take our NPCS for example. Many of them have pieces of gear that belong to these classes that are locked to us.

Stephanivien uses the Blacksmith Bandanna, just with the flames off and the Machnist Attire.

Hilda uses a crafting item as well for her job, don't remember which one it is exactly, and you see more on npcs here and there.

We have means of identifying who is what class. It would unlock a lot of glamour potential to let us use any item in the game!

It is essentially the exact same situation as with DoW/M AF gearsets, except DoW/M get a tiny infinitesimal use before you get the very first endgame dungeon set then they fade into obscurity. You can use the DoH/H AF sets if you don't want to craft/buy and pentameld the crafted gear, just no real reason to beyond that. I can't see SE throwing away the restrictions just for DoL/H AF sets on that difference though. Devs care too much about job/class identity to be that flexible with the system.

I am not sure that they care about class identity as much as they are using it as an excuse. Crafters all have the same exact skills and names, only different tools that they hold. Some people hide tools/weapons so they can run around and not care if they are identified as one specific class on sight. There's ways of identifying if you click and look at a person, or if they say something, maybe an icon appears in chat.

An excuse for what though? That they create AF gearsets every expansion for each job/class and lock those sets to the job/class they were designed around tells me they care, far far too much perhaps, about making those sets exclusive to the jobs they designed them for because of their notion of them exemplifying job identity.

I may not agree with the Devs but I don't believe they're making an excuse to cover anything up. They simply care too much about adherence to job identity when it comes to the AF sets instead of letting players actually enjoy them.

The day the NA forums consolidates similar things into similar threads will be a sight to behold.

Before the craft, the least motivated stopped at around level 30. And only the most motivated were doing it, and some were even making it their main activity with an SMN/SCH Job in hand, because they were too lazy to mount more jobs - the practical 2-in-1.

Today, for some time now, it's become so casualized and accessible to everyone. Unlocking Craft Expert books? it's a simple matter of returning collectibles: they xp up and give you enough money to buy your books.

Ditto for Harvesting: return collectibles to Solution Nine and you'll have enough to buy the Books for Legendary Harvesting.

Shouldn't it be even simpler? If you're lazy, go and buy from MarketBoard like everyone else. Crafting is already extremely accessible. If you're motivated, it takes 1 week at most, or 1 or 2 Craft jobs a day. And you benefit from not having to buy them. Since anything you don't buy for your stuff is also money earned.

So much so that prices are dropping almost day one, or should I say week one after patch release. Before Craft used to be reserved for the Elite, to the point where there were FCs that did nothing but craft. Nowadays, these FCs, which make hundreds of millions of gils a day, have disappeared. A blessing in disguise, it was a nuisance, but it existed.

    Seriously...
