What the heck, Square Enix? This is a serious flaw! I did a lot of work, was refused invitation to the party, and I got nothing for it! Not even a teleport back to camp!
- [dev1456] The conditions for obtaining rewards in caravan escort missions have been adjusted.
Based on this change, players are required to form a party with fellow participants and play an active role in protecting the chocobos. Warning messages will appear at three points throughout the mission for players whose contributions are deemed insufficient.

Oh, my. I've actually been wondering how this works, since the wording was a little silly (sometimes they really just have no idea how to explain something properly... like what they said about stats from character and gear being 1:1 in 2.0 - they aren't now? can you please English this better?).
That said, if this is accurate, that's just about the worst possible "fix" for the problems surrounding caravan. If you want to force players to make a PT, use some kind of auto-party feature, where everyone involved in the caravan is forced into the same PT automatically. If no one seriously thought of the possibility that you could grief players by not inviting them, I really worry about the future of this game.
You know what else would have worked? Doing a demi-instance thing like you have for LQs. Just let folks do caravans whenever, with their PT they pre-formed*. Throw a cooldown on it if you want, whatever. But please, can we abandon the digital scarcity nonsense? We don't limit, say, Dzemael Darkhold to only 24 people in the whole world being able to do it at any given time, so why do we do that with caravan?
*This, by itself, would have fixed everything without needing any further changes. But now, instead of dealing with people who ninja into the caravan by clicking faster (and maybe they help, maybe they don't), you get to deal with people not inviting you because they're jerks, so you are essentially wasting your time every single time you caravan and someone decides you aren't cool enough to be in the PT.
this is like seed for bullying/harassment/being a douche >.>players are required to form a party with fellow participants
in other words you can make pple loose points just for breathing wrong.
FFXIV Since Sep. 2010: Selbina/Ridill/Excalibur (Mergers)
Currently moved to Leviathan
I remember the Alpha days when even breathing lagged you
What if there are two different parties? What happens then?
And if you're by yourself and other people don't want to invite you then what? You aren't allowed to participate?
Dumb restrictions are dumb. Either it should auto-party you up with anyone who is doing it, or it should not work this way. Can you imagine? You get to the end of caravan, and jerk-leader ousts you from the party... Don't think it wont happen anymore than the above example. Some people like to piss people off when given opportunities like this.
And since I know you CAN attack mobs and heal the chocos without being in a pt, WHY the arbitrary rule??
Record their behaviour in video.
Post the video on YouTube.
Post a link to the video on the LodeStone (ideally in the World specific forum).
Do not add any commentary.
Let everyone see the behaviour of these individuals.
I intentionally blacked out the leader's name to avoid smearing reputation--not because defamation is a breech of the rules, but because that's how I like to conduct myself. I feel I haven't quite attained perfection in this respect, but ruining someone's name and gameplay experience over misunderstandings or simple bad days is not okay by me.
If people are registered in the event, they should receive credit for participating. End of story. :P
That is how it was. People wanted it changed. The concern was that someone would register for the event, but not partake in it, and then get credit. Not everyone thinks this is good behaviour. And technically, you are being 'paid' for escorting the Caravan.
