Yes, the reruns of the items from 1.0 summer events. No NEW event items were ever obtainable more than 1 year.
It's weird the /uchiwasshoi emote is short but the /wasshoi emote is persistent. I thought it would be the same.
I was hoping it would be. But the wasshoi emote is actually a chinese emote that was eventually made available to everyone else on the store. It was never an event emote like the uchiwasshoi is. Despite it being clearly themed that way.

It used to have fairly involved quests with the power ranger guys, a crafting thing for fish and chips, the bomb king fate, and parkour courses set up on the beach. That whole extra island near costa del sol was even added to make more room for moonfire faire stuff.
now it's like a sub-2 minute talk to a couple guys quest
This your first time? Seasonal events are always phoned in, and you're almost never able to purchase previous rewards outside of common consumables and the occasional furniture item they can't justify selling on mog.
The only time they've put any semblance of effort into seasonals was in 2018, with the calamatologist Rising, og jump puzzle Moonfire and duo maze Valentione's.
Still wondering what happened in 2018 that they haven't been able to replicate in any other year.
Events in general have gone downhill in recent years. The Haunted Manor, Valentione's Maze, and Development Room were the peak, but even the little minigames they added here and there were fun little diversions.
Now they're mostly:
-Short quests that are arbitrarily broken up instead of being a single continuous quest for no discernable reason other than to give the illusion of more content
-Storyline introduces a "dilemma" that is resolved in 5 minutes
-Talk to a bunch of NPCs
-Interact with destination markers or hand over a key item
It comes off as them going through the motions of making these because they feel like they have to, not because there's any passion there.

Seasonal Events have never been particularly long.... But this one felt shorter than usual... But there was also DT's release which was probably a bigger priority than Moonfire Faire for the devs.
Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. makes 68% of its operating profit from FFXIV. That's for the entire company. It does not use your subscription for FFXIV, it uses that money to finance console games which only make up 0.5% of its annual revenue. FFXIV is only funded by microtransactions from the online store. That's why these summer events exist: to promote FOMO and sales on the online store. You will continue subscribing and you will buy the "new" outfits on the store. Nothing will change.
Calling these things "events" feels like such a misnomer when it's a couple of quests followed by a highly situational emote that most people will never find a use for.
It's crazy to me how a lot of those 3 dollar cash shop items like the butterfly kimonos were event rewards at one point. You guys were eating good in the past, huh?
