New and so so lost.....

Purchased the game a few months back when it was on sale at gamestop but my PC couldn't handle it so I put it up in the closet. Just upgraded my rig a little and found the box and decided to see if I could run it. Runs at max settings and I have to say the game looks gorgeous. But I have no clue what to do lol. Any help that can be passed along would be much appreciated. If there is a ls that doesn't mind helping out with questions from time to time I would love to join.

Step one, go to the tavern and pick up some leve quests. Its up to you if you want to level crafting gathering or fighting one at a time or all at once, and how many classes in those divisions (DoL DoH DoW DoM) you want to level at once. You will receive experience, gil, gear, food and materials as rewards.

I personally took botany and carpentry to 50 first, then worried about fighting classes later. I've never had any issues with gil, but I also never really got into the fun parts of this game until after my DoL and DoH were leveled up, resulting in me quitting a few times. Mind you the game back then is a lot different from the game of today. It all comes down to what you enjoy the most and what you want from this game.

Just for clarification, you can make money without having a DoL or DoH leveled, the downside to not having them is having to outsource for repairs and materials. At the end of the day it comes down to whether or not you would like committing genocide against a species or two for hours on end, or would you prefer hacking at trees for hours on end. (Just f.y.i. If you are a stoner, hacking at trees can be very amusing)

EDIT: Oh and one more helpful tidbit of info. If you go to your journal located in your main menu. At the bottom of every quest description there is a map button that shows you where exactly you need to go. This is the most important feature for questing. If you ever ask "where do I have to go for x quest?", the most likely response will be silence.

open your journal. try to follow the stroryline quests. read everything you can, make some friends, and try to have fun

it gets a whole lot easier.

P.S.- I guess this is an indication of how hard the newcomer experience is for now. as far as I know, everything with the starter experience will be updated and improved in patch 2.0. so try to hang in there

also, i know that getting into that game without playing 11 or looking into the mechanics can seem like a tidal wave of info to figure out, but just remember, pace yourself and choose what you think would be useful to playing. its easier to select something and focus on that instead of looking at everything

and lastly, once you settle down and know the basics and such, if you are needing help with patch notes/seasonal events.
