Is YoshiP still in charge or is corporate taking over?

With the announcement of the FFXIV mobile app, the poor MSQ decisions and other bad decisions around class changes (there is also a lot of criticism about difficulty levels either being too easy or too difficult across encounters).. I started wondering if Square executives are forcing their decisions into the game while YoshiP is becoming more of a figurehead.

Maybe the game is getting too big for him to oversee things or is the company telling him what he has to put into the game.

If he is making all these decisions, I'd want to ask how and why.

Well they put him in charge of FF 16 and that ended up eating a lot of time and attention from 14.

Aren’t CBU3 working on a new IP? I bet it’s an ff16 situation again where all their good developers have been moved to the new IP and they’ve just left a skeleton crew to keep up appearances that they’re still working on XIV.

YoshiP was de facto moved to the boss of whole CS3 (formerly CBU3). While it's certainly a good move for SE as a whole, the immediate downside is that he has no longer as much time to spend on FFXIV and instead must oversee a lot of corporate matters that have nothing to do with the game.

Therefore, he probably had to delegate a lot of stuff he did in FFXIV and in particular, he no longer has the time to play the game thoroughly (like he confessed doing with SHB). From that point on, mess is inevitable because it's now younger people doing it and... well, you know the rest.

The terrible job changes really started to sink in in shadowbringers, with some as far back as SB, and it's only gone downwards from there for most, so it's nothing new. Soon it'll be a visual novel only. Of course there's always the corporate stuff, but it's very much yoship's decisions and/or say.

Not to suggest SE isn’t a standard ‘greedy’ company like the others, but the CEO who was obsessed with NFTs doesn’t work at SE anymore; he was replaced. Afterwards the swore off NFT, probably because even they aren’t stupid enough to think that was an appropriate business model

Yoshi-P himself said the main class changes will come later (7.2-8.0). So I don't know what you mean about the class changes. Come back again in 2 years to judge the decisions. For now they are obviously on "stand by"and he explained that they focus first on fight designs.

Mobile app is not announced at all. Just a rumor. And Yoshida said multiple times he would like everyone to be able to play the game without having to rely on a specific device. That's also why we got an Xbox version. Although who knows if that mobile app will see the light of day...

And everything about the MSQ and the difficulty is all subjective. If they don't try to change things up a bit they get equally criticized.

The 7.2 thing was a mistranslation. There will be no major adjustments during this expansion that have been announced as of yet (if ever)z

Telling people who’ve been waiting literally 5+ years to ‘just wait another 2’ for good job design is absolutely not a reasonable request lol. Because every time those 2 years pass and people are still making the same complaints, there’s always some people who just dismiss the entire thing with just wait for next expansion
