In my opinion it's not even the VA fault, SE is completely to blame for their lack of quality management here. Everyone who has just a little shred of experience with the internet could've seen that this horrible english voice acting would put the VA in an incredibly vulnerable position.

Yet there was no quality control from SE side as it seems, nobody said "Hell no we can't deliver that they will tear her apart.". Nope they gave the thumbs up and fed her to the vultures.

So yeah, in my eyes it is completely SE fault. They failed not just us but they also failed that VA in the end. And we have it easy, we just got a mediocre expansion. She got her mental and probably physical health destroyed because SE felt like they wanted to gamble with her.

All I needed to see, the typical argument of: "Nuuuu cis girl getting more attention than me, she doesn't deserve it!!!!! t-t" when you're posting things like this that can make people uncomfortable and make you come off as desperate/petty.

Sena doesn't deserve death threats or any threats for that matter and this community is starting to tilt in the direction of Genshin Impact's community (all we're missing is someone to go there and try to assassinate a member of SE), but I absolutely cannot stand this perspective that some members of the transgender community seem to have towards cis women. It really just puts a bad taste in my mouth and it's a struggle to bring transgender women closer to me as I feel like I might just get attacked for getting more attention if we go out.

Well, like I said in another place, in a perfect world, it shouldn't happen. And it's always depressing to see.

Unfortunatly we aren't in a perfect world, we are in a world where anyone on the internet can be insulted or threatened for nearly anything and having not done it, i don't find myself to owe an apology to Sena Bryer.
She is the one to chose to go on X/Twitter, she is the one who chose to be active on it, she is the one who chose to be very vocal on it and have most of her post about activism, which is the most easy way to receive death threat. I'm not saying that she shouldn't, she do what she want to, but thinking that internet is a "safe place" is at the very least delusional.
She is also the one who wanted an actress to step down for being the VA of a transgender character in a videogame, while being a transgender person dubbing a cis one (I personnaly don't care any way if the job is well done), in my country this is call "giving the stick to be beaten with", I don't know if il also exist in english.

It's more than likely than most of all messages she said she received are from people that just learn of her being a trans due to her mediatisation with Dawntrail and jump on the occasion more than coming directly from FFXIV players.
And if I'm wrong, let's not pretend that the FFXIV community didn't have it's share of sick people threatening other people, the only differences is that it was toxic positivity and only targeted those who were saying bad things about FFXIV, and the community wasn't in such a hurry to "apologize" to these people.

That said... ArcSys pretty much openly said Bridget is trans. The Yamato situation is just a headache...

Tbf, situation about Bridget was really awful. Ky and Goldlewis just forced Bridget to do that, while character always went against the pressure of his village and proved that he was a guy.

I think the issue is the fact that the 'story-first MMO' somehow managed to bungle the story--you don't see this kind of stink being stunk in WoW, for example.

Somebody missed the whole Shadowlands-Jailer-Sylvanas-Arthas deal it seems. Along with them just not knowing what to do with their own characyers and retconning stuff on the go.

Oof. Not only is she asking for someone to step down from their livelihood for no good reason at all, but someone could easily use the same argument against her: "Wuk isn't trans, so Sena should step down from the role clearly meant for a cis woman."

It's the classic "Rules for thee, not for me".
