That’s because Scholar is much more convoluted to heal with than White Mage or Sage in a similar way to Astrologian. I.E you don’t just do Adloquium to heal someone you do Lustrate or Emergency Tactics - Adloquium, Excogitation only takes effect at 50% HP, fairy abilities are support healing and not literally meant to replace yours, mitigating damage with Sacred Soil, etc etc.

Hence, people play it and tend to misunderstand how healing on the job actually works, making it seem much weaker than it is. Basically to get the most out of Scholar’s healing you need to be tactical and proactively planning at all times. But then, doesn’t that kind of apply to any healer? A White Mage fishing for Freecure doesn’t indicate that White Mage is weak, for example. It just indicates they’ve misunderstood something about the job/game system

That too of course lol, but Recitation and Excogitation / Indomitability do tend to be the buttons Scholars hit most reliably. And while ofc there’s the ‘dps opportunity’ cost but I’m putting that to one side for the moment and referencing the lesser-used ‘big heals’. I also didn’t mention Whispering Dawn which is useful for recovering during long periods of no damage over using any of those heals and throw everything into DPS. Or Dissipation for that matter. It’s also worth mentioning that technically (I think), Recitation + Emergency Tactics and Adloquium is actually stronger than Excogitation in regard to healing potency because of the crit inflation on the catalysed shield

No, but cause I don't see the same issues on any other healer. Like I said, there is always a gap between theory craft and practical situation.

WHM's healing output is extreme consistence, even if they're lazy about it.

SGE's have a very well tune kit that allow maximizing healing up time easily.

AST can pump out ridiculous amount of heal with zero care in the world.

Even if all the things you talk about SCH's healing potential is true, that would still make it a bad healer in my book if the job has to play 2 times as hard just to get a roughly similar result.

After all, the whole "working twice as hard just for a meager return" is why they had to redesign AST.

It'd be fun if their rez animation was them giving CPR to a downed player.
