DPS deserve commendations too!

Play a cute girl character.

I'm not even joking.

I play exactly the same on my miqo'te boy and my au ra girl alt, and she gets commendations way more often.

Now I do agree that my au ra is adorable, but damn, c'mon, I like my catboy too!

I started playing this game on the same day my husband started playing it. He made a miqo'te girl and I made a miqo'te boy (we didn't plan this at all, that's just what we came out of the character creator with and went "cool, let's go") and despite playing together for almost the same amount of time, he has at least twice as many commendations on his miqo'te girl than I have on my boy. The comms rarely have much to do with gameplay.

I like to think i have played long enough to know dungeons by heart so not normally an issue there, I try to help players, Always Dance partner and use Shield Samba where appropriate etc.
I was a Trade Mentor for a long time But have wanted to up to combat mentor lol.
I have managed to get to 574 comms total as Dancer, a chunk of those came from leveling healers or tanks though (But still most from DNC over a long period of time)

My Portrait game probably could be better but i like it lol.

imo, it feels like you're trying too hard to show off that tattoo. Is that rare or something? I want to see your character looking cool/fun/cute, all I see is your back in this one.

They definitely are but there's nothing wrong with that. it's an mmo, half the fun is showing off rare stuff to other players

No, for sure, it's just not something I like, and definitely wouldn't commend someone just for having a portrait like that. Just imo though, I like seeing people doing fun/silly stuff

It means that character comes from pre-ARR Times. Its the mark they survived dalamuds fall, a legacy character

im always surprised when i get a commendation for being a DPS job, it's like, "Wow, you really think I did good in this role?" like its unbelievable to me.

I'll be carrying the entire run on my back as rdm as I verraise until my mana is dry and ethers popped left and right and get 0 comms.

The commendation system does not work as intended, but it doesn't really need fixing because if you really want that mentor roulette, you should probably be ready for a long grind anyway. Play tank or healer. That's free comms no matter how badly you do

I get comms as a DPS and I give comms to other DPS very often, especially those playing less popular jobs that did well.

That said when I first started I spammed it on tanks and healers. I imagine more inexperienced or casual people do this.

As many have said it also helps when you are a team player basically and have a sense of humor as necessary.

Comms are overrated and outdated. Honestly, all they do is feed people's ego, and half the time the people don't need to get their over inflated ego inflated even more. I don't hand them out unless they do something that saves the run/shaves time off the run.

are there really people so bad at the game that comms inflate their ego ?
