    Wait was it always part of the MSQ? Because I'm pretty sure I have an alt that's up to Stormblood that doesn't have one raid unlocked.

    It wasn't until after Shadowbringers. Then it became mandatory to complete.

    The first raid for each expansion (unless inaccessible from MSQ progress) should probably be mandatory to enter the AR roulette.

    If the first one doesn't capture you, you're allowed to leave, but you can't have only CT and drag 23 other people through Sycrus Tower again.
