Been trying to hammer this home on a few other threads but nope...skulls are too thick.Reminder to Players.
It's a Privilege we are gladly using, when we travel.
(Since Server Meshing doesn't exist as a MMO Standard. Let alone adapted for a Decade Running MMO, based off of a "1.0")
We Aren't Entitled To Play with Specific Players who exist in other DCs. We aren't Entitled to Interact with Communities in other DCs.
The DC/Worlds/Homeworlds you exist in, is YOUR LOCATION AND COMMUNITY.
If you cannot exist and take/give benefit of it.
Why should you exist in it, and then leave.
The Devs had a plan, any other Unintended benefit you take, isn't Entitled or given to you.
You Took them.
Don't get yourself confused.

You can be Unhappy, but you cannot demand to have a situation that wasn't intended. Or even Labeled as a Standard Feature.
All that you can do, is hope they resolve things.
Or actually settle in and build/improve your own community.
Which is in your Homeworld, which is able to interact with its sister worlds. Within Your DC.
You Chose your Location, Live In It.
We All Knew The Expectations, and this was obvious in its approach.
"Server meshing isn't a standard"
When I play WoW and want to play with off-realm friends in that game, you know what I do? I just invite them and they magically show up. FFXIV's implementation is a little clunkier, but it's very much there and it's great too.
Their auction house is meshed together for crafter materials.
For what it's worth, I don't agree with piling onto another DCs PF and that the intended use case was for friends to be able to play together and such. However, now that isn't possible either, and to say it was a "privilege" is misunderstanding the fact that it was announced as a new feature of the game. So now it was part of the game, that they were selling. It was advertised. It allowed people to not have to wait to make their characters in order to be able to play with friends (because "wait til 3AM lol" is more effort than most people who dwell on these forums are willing to put in. Let's face it, we're a little more into this game than randy mcnewcharacter :/ )
Seems to me this is a pretty basic feature the top MMOs seem to have.
Maybe the community should start spreading out. And stop acting like a 5k lbs fat guy stuck in bed who does nothing but make excuses as too why he cant lose weight. The restrictions were put in place cause the communtiy refuses to spread out and just piles on aether like flies on dog crap. If there was raid,rp and pvp communties on every dc like on ather and crystal we would not be seeing these restrictionsThis would be reasonable if we hadn’t been living with DC travel for a couple of years now. The way people play the game has changed drastically because they are expecting the feature to continue to be functional. And when a feature doesn’t work, people are within their right to complain about it, especially since the game is a paid service.
Predictably, when DC travel came around I expanded my community of friends to be across DCs because it was made available to me for multiple years. I’m now facing the issue as the lone member of my static from a different DC of having to worry if I’m going to inconvenience others because of how DC travel is now. The sudden swap of the DC tra el system to what it is now one the first week of savage raids was a pretty big fumble.

I mean it’s reasonable they’d want to avoid people piling onto the server, but from what I understand world transfers were locked down anyways due to congestion, and ultimately we’re now facing the same issue of people flocking to one server and staying logged in to avoid travel times. The end result is still the same as if they had told us early or not, with the one difference being that people would have had the information to work with on what changes to expect. If they told you it was coming after DT release but before savage, all of the same consequences would still happen.
1) All you would have is just a head start on finding a new static on your data center, but you couldn't home world transfer anywhere besides Dynamis because it was locked and
2) You don't know how bad the restriction is going to be for where you need to be specifically and what times you and your people interact. To pre-breakup the static or any community based off a possibility of inconvenience is also going to be 50/50.
3) Square probably doesn't even want that 50/50. They likely wanted you to at least attempt to play content with people from other data centers on Dynamis or OCE. That is what the Twitter account was spamming every day during the initial DT lockdown. They aren't incentivized on their end to tell you ahead of time.
This is what I honestly expected going into savage, but it is what it is now. But chances are if they had locked it to just Dynamis we may have run into congestion on Dynamis as well. Or maybe not, no real way to know.If they are going to change anything, they should go back to what they did at the start of Dawntrail: Only open the doors to Dynamis and OCE so those datacenters can be populated and helped until they figure out how to make a better system. Keep the other DCs locked to travel to, but everyone can travel out to Dynamis or OCE if they like.
Hey, take a chill pill. It’s easy to whine about community this and community that, but thing is that people each have their own things going on. The raiding on Primal isn’t any different than the raiding on Aether, and people will adjust over time. But for now, it sucks to have to deal with what feels like a poor and sudden implementation. People aren’t all upset just to be upset. Just some of them. (:Maybe the community should start spreading out. And stop acting like a 5k lbs fat guy stuck in bed who does nothing but make excuses as too why he cant lose weight. The restrictions were put in place cause the communtiy refuses to spread out and just piles on aether like flies on dog crap. If there was raid,rp and pvp communties on every dc like on ather and crystal we would not be seeing these restrictions
And that was one thing they mentioned they didn't want. Even Dynamis now has a lower cap on travelers/visitors than it did when Dawntrail first launched because noone ever complained about not able to go to Dynamis back then and congestion then would've been worse than it is now because of MSQ rush and job leveling. I'm assuming they want Dynamis open, but not fully open.
Though I was talking to a friend on Malboro 2 days ago about Party Finder and their thoughts on things since they were running Savage before me and one thing we pretty much agreed on is that while this didn't have a definitive end date in terms of dc travel, it is something we thought would be temporary and not a permanent feature. Because 6 years from now, we'll have to add another data center potentially and start over again, but more importantly, even in the interviews, Yoshi P never stated that cross DC DF/PF was something that was being abandoned or is never going to happen or something they don't want. He only stated that it was near impossible and would take 3 years minimum of full resources which is too long to wait for a solution and a bad business decision. That isn't to say that if technology that would make it easier to create existed in future years that they wouldn't use it, that also isn't to say that it's not something they slowly work on in the background instead of committing hella resources to it (something that might take 6 years instead of 3 years). They could just do this as the immediate fix, work on things in the background for the next 3 years, and we get an update in 3-4.5 years from now on whether it looks more possible and or when it might release. Wouldn't be the first time the community asked for something as a solution to a problem or a highly desired feature that we had to wait 6+ years for.
My big point wasn't to cause problems but to open it up for people to express concerns regarding the DC travel system. why I do think this was a solution, I believe there could of been a better one. I am not sure what that is but limiting people from interacting with other data centers like this isn't it.
Trust me, the second transfers re-opened on patch day, I let go of my house and never looked back, transfered from Dynamis to Crystal to finally be able to join my friends and never have to be scared of getting locked on that empty shell of a DC ever again, a house is nice, but if you dont have your friends, the game is terrible, and nah, they shouldnt have to go to a dead DC to see you, DC travel is a feature of the game, they decided to do a switcharoo on people, but it aint right.Forcing people to spread out or even locking them down doesn't seem to work as planned though, given we not only have tons of people that refuse to free transfer to Dynamis despite all of the new housing (something a *lot* of people on Aether/Primal/Crystal have seemingly been complaining about for years about not having), but then you have someone like me on Maduin who found being forced to stay on Dynamis those few weeks to be so terrible I'm considering paying to go to a different data center, despite having a house myself even, because I don't want to experience this nonsense again of being trapped somewhere with iffy queue times because contrary to what Square-Enix wanted to believe, we were not in fact flooded with Travelers, and now we'll probably see even *less* as people scramble to get back to their preferred A/P/C destination because if they *have* be stuck somewhere, it sure as hell isn't Dynamis.
It might be a better course of long-term action to just finally update their server infrastructure so the Dynamis worlds could be added to Aether/Primal/Crystal instead (because now those three could handle the collective amount), and to finally do away with limited housing (because again, the servers could handle the indefinite instancing), because all of these "band-aid" solutions to move players around are starting to not stick anymore, including the ability to data center travel in the first place as certain worlds get their gates shuttered.
The only advice I can give to people :
DO. NOT. MOVE. TO. DYNAMIS. The DC already died down since stuff is open back up, and will be a complete dead husk the first content drought there is, dont bother. Housing aint worth it if you got no friends to come see it.
I just been waiting for it to open I wanna actually see my friends again and no play alone all the time
If they are going to change anything, they should go back to what they did at the start of Dawntrail: Only open the doors to Dynamis and OCE so those datacenters can be populated and helped until they figure out how to make a better system. Keep the other DCs locked to travel to, but everyone can travel out to Dynamis or OCE if they like.
