I never really enjoyed WoW very much. While I did hate DT's story, I'm enjoying the gameplay, so I'm sticking around. But if I was looking at a different MMO, it'd probably either be GW2 or ESO. I recall really enjoying ESO's stories and their pvp. It's been a long time, but I remember liking GW2's gameplay, especially their pvp. And while I'm sure I'd be the only player at this point, I did enjoy SWTOR for a great long while.

Take care. Sorry XIV wasn't your cup of tea. I hope you find the game that makes you happy. I don't really think there's a need for a mass exodus. Those who want to look elsewhere will look elsewhere and those who are still finding something to enjoy in XIV won't need to.

Misery loves company and it's hard to find one more miserable than an MMO player scorned, lol.

These people will pout and kick their feet but you'll see their sub fee still goin' and they'll still be here clogging up the forums.

how dare them critize the company for a game people want to go on. It sounds like they have something important to them in this game right ? Doenst matter what it is some people dont want to lose it. Be it houses / mounts / achievement / friends doesnt mattet its lifetime, time people ejoyed once and they are mad for ruining it to them. Thx for this post, because this shows people will eat everything CBU3 gives them and if someone speaks against it the only argument is like stop playing,

Have you tried initiating those conversations yourself? Next time you're in a dungeon or a city just start chatting with people about whatever. I would be incredibly surprised if literally everyone ignores you. Again I can only speak for my own experience and my own server but I've never had any problem with that. Just yesterday I was chatting with my dungeon roulette group about earthquakes after one happened where I live during the run, and afterward some random lala came up and waved to me and a friend in Limsa and we talked for a bit.

I'm really not seeing this socially dead game people try to paint FFXIV as. If you want to see a truly socially dead game go check out WoW. Their megaserver nonsense annihilated the community. You'd have an easier time folding yourself into a diamond than getting anyone to talk in that game. lol

MoP was the worst expansion (at the time) with my favorite class designs. I loved taking every single one of them into the Brawler's Guild. As for the rest of the expansion? Pass.

MoP had a couple of flaws at its release but the first 2/3s of the expansion were far better than Cataclysm as far as I was concerned.

If the Barrens dailies and Timeless Isle are all you remember about MoP, then I can understand why you consider it the worst to that point. To me, patch 5.3 killed just about all the good work they had done in recovering from the Cataclysm problems plus fixing the most glaring problem at MoP's launch (couldn't spend VP without grinding rep through faction dailies). But up until then I was having a lot of fun.

Although the latter isn't a fair comparison because it's a different game and it's only been out for a month whereas the WoW expansions we're discussing here are 10-15+ years old.
TBC had a very bad start because everyone was funneled through Hellfire Peninsula when first reaching Outland. Massive log-in queues, zone congestion and frequent server crashes were a result. That led to very bad ratings that were rarely adjusted once players got to end game and could experience the core content.

It had some good raiding (Throne of Thunder is still one of the best raid tiers of all time, I think) and a ton of side content, introduced CMs which laid the groundwork for M+, and to top it all off had a semi-cohesive story that was easy to follow.

IMO Cata had less going for it than MoP and was clearly less finished with Abyssal Maw and the Well of Eternity raid getting axed and the final raid, Dragon Soul, being a short raid full of copy pasted recycled boss models.

But if you go by user reception on Metacritic (not the only metric of user enjoyment at all, but I can't think of a better way to assess user sentiment for an expansion that came out more than a decade ago) it is rated the same as Cataclysm and tied for the lowest at the time (5.8) and slightly lower than The Burning Crusade (6.0).

The Dawntrail comparison is pretty on point, actually. Leveling through the zone with that story was pretty bad. We went from Deathwing to "There are monkeys in my brewery! Please fix" to yet again, sudden world ending threats. It was just tonally all over the place. And having to do that horrible slog of a grind for every character to get things unlocked was just a massive pain in the ass. As much as I loved the BG on my alts, there were just as many alts that stalled halfway through, especially around the time you dealt with the fish people and the constant RP as other characters.

I didn't even know MoP was a disliked expansion, it's one of my favorites! haha Always loved the aesthetic of it and the actual raids/dungeons were fun. Of course Stormblood is also my fav FF14 expac so I'm used to going against the grain. (and I'm enjoying DT thus far thanks to the actual content)
