YES! NO MORE SPEED RUNS!
YES! NO MORE SPEED RUNS!

The part about the roaming instance entrances is slightly worrying. Unless they keep the timer random, people will camp the shit out of the zones unless they can literally spawn anywhere. Regardless, I'll withhold judgement until I actually play it.

Roegadyn still without tail.... (Q _ Q) /disappointment
"Ye see, almost everyone's got somethin' ye want, an' ain't got somethin' they want─or ain't got enough of it. Now, it follows that if ye wants t' get what it is they got, ye got t' get 'em that what they want, an' trade it for that what ye want, whate'er it be that ye want. Got that?"

Thanks for the link. Interesting, informative interview.![]()
Like others, I'm *so* glad they're getting rid of Speed Runs as a method for earning certain gear - Yay!I look forward to more creative and engaging methods to challenge players.
I'm curious how the Primals are going to become in 2.0, though:
RPG Site: Primal fights will become roaming in 2.0 for the summoning system; are there any specifics you could go into? Will weapons and things like that still be obtainable, and will there still be instanced fights like which are available in the current version?
Yoshida: Most of the primals will not be “roaming” the public areas, and their battles will still be instanced, though it will be more challenging to discover these instances.
Koji: It looks like there was a little bit of misinformation given at the E3 interview (and this may have been my fault, or it may have been Yoshida-san’s). The implication given was that all the primals would be roaming, and once they were summoned, they would pop somewhere else in the world. This is not the case. While roaming primal are still not out of the question, the summonable deities will be instanced-based, with the primal going back to these instances once they’ve been summoned. However, players will still have to look for these instances once they’ve become available, preventing camping.
So for players wanting to earn their Ifrit / Garuda / Leviathan / Titan Weapons in the future, will they have to run around and try and find the Aetherial Gate to jump to that Instance?
It almost feels like there would be 2 types of Instances per Primal: One for Primal Weapons, and one for earning the right to Summon them? (or maybe Primal Weapons will become rarer and it's all one and the same fight / instance?)
We'll have to see what the final implementation is like, but it's a bit sad if we end up having to camp various Aetherial Gates / Instance Entrances to see if, say, the Ifrit Instance is available again, instead of actually *seeing* Ifrit roaming around (randomly, anywhere in Eorzea) and people having to try and defeat him that way.
RPG Site: As far as gameplay goes, how will grinding vs. quests work for leveling? Will players find more reward from taking on more quests as opposed to just outright level grinding?
Yoshida: We will be moving away from a grind-oriented leveling system to a quest/content-driven leveling system. No longer will randomly defeating public monsters be the most efficient way to level your character.
Oh great now I get to run here there and every where just to level a job. I hate quest leveling and I prefer a grind over running here there and every where to get my exp. To sum it up this game will cater to 1 group and thats the casuals. Now once all or most of the hardcore and mid casuals leave this game will flop. It seems Yoshi cant get anything right, its always too far one way or the other. Than again based off the performace of what they did to FFXI and a few other games it shouldnt surprize me any.
Jumping the gun are we? Don't know how the quest system will work. Also, you can still Do your normal thing and Grind off of mobs if you so please this isn't catering to anyone, as long as Grind off mobs is still an option ( which it will be).RPG Site: As far as gameplay goes, how will grinding vs. quests work for leveling?
