I'm sorry I didn't mean to imply that it's that bad that they are copied. Seriously that's done in every game ever and for completely understandable reasons.

Visually at least these few screenshots do lack in at least my personal opinion originality and landmarks that were big complaints from the community.

SE has used a lot of Team Kusanagi's work on many FF games from VII to XII.
I'm not sure if they were hired for XIV but I hope 2.0 has something along those lines in creativity.

2.0 concept art looks great though. I wonder why they decided to show trees and desert locations first since 1.0 already has both and there's not really anything that new about them.

Because the Black Shroud is largely considered an absolute travesty and they want to show how different 2.0 will be without giving too much away before they're ready?

2.0 will still take place in Eorzea so what else are they supposed to show while trying to prevent spoilers?

That makes sense. Maybe same reason why they showed just desert in another location. The desert looks visually just as exciting to me as the current one and well deserts in genera. They are probably sitting on the more interesting areas until gamescon happens so that they have material to put on the new site.

Just because they add vanity slots does not mean they have to allow anyone to wear anything. They could still keep level/class restrictions if that was to be an issue, not that it really is an issue in the first place.

Vanity slot would be like wearing a cobalt cuirass but it appears as PLD af body. Not like wearing a cobalt cuirass and it appears as BLM af body.

Costumes are usually cash-shop with special items made specifically for that slot, that you pay for.

I've never seen anything different in ANY mmo I've played.

DC Universe let me look the way I wanted, and I never had to buy special items.

Basically as long as you've been in possession of certain gear, even after you sold it, you can still wear it just for looks while having the real gear for stats equipped. And you can change the colors to how you wanted.
