    Less particle effects and more gameplay

    You can basically summarize SE's design philosophy in 2024 by looking at how M4S is designed to be a bloatfest of particle effects making reading the actual mechanics obnoxious because everything is filled with particles.



    Day by day it seems they're just treading the same path to failure again.








    Now just look at how clean O8S was:

    That exact image was forgotten the second they started to work on DT.

    Thankfully, they are working on viera hats for the past 5 years, 8.0 will fix it surely

    8.0 will also fix the models

    DT and up to 8.0 will also continue the graphical update that is oh so great and revolutionary (it isnt)

    DC travel will also be fixed in the future

    This team literally just keeps delaying this for the future, they forgot everything that was on that image.

    They also dont play their game which is honestly obvious. Bugs like missing aura scales, the male aura pizza emote, amongst so many other things are done in basic testing, it aint rocket science, the goblet fog issue, the housing issue, everything was obvious if they had done any testing, they did none.

    This is legit why I dropped raiding immediately after doing Eden's Verse for the first time.

    There's a point where having so much focus on visual effects is actually a detriment to the game accessibility-wise. I've got visual impairment and it's an utter nightmare in any facet of the game.

    It's not even an obsession with graphical quality at this point, but just trying literally so hard with presentation.

    Yeah, well see the thing about that is consumers are looking for visual improvements in their games. It's literally the point of a video game. Just turn off the special effects in the graphics settings while raiding like everyone else.

    Lmao you CAN'T turn off effects from bosses and enemies. I've had to wear sun glasses to play because of how bad the lighting has been since 7.0 and even then I'm having trouble with motion sickness. "Improved visuals." I donno about that, since now everything is blinding and drowned out by everything having god awful bloom.

    Please show us where you can disable the sparkly particle effects that make M4S's half room cleave so obnoxious to see

    That's crazy. I had to disable everyone's VFX to actually have a measure of visual clarity and see the BOSS pre-DT. Visual clarity is a thing, I don't want to enter a fight and think I stepped into a movie directed by Michael Bay.

    It almost feels like it is much cheaper and more convenient to rely on players do the testing for them. Then they can pick what they want to address. Maybe.

    Sometime I wonder if they do it on purpose, and the visual overload is part of the challenge.

    For example look at M2S, in my experience beat 1 is where people tend to mess up the most despite mechanically it should be the easiest ... why? Because we have that big visual cue on top of our head that actually blocked our view of the very things we're supposed to avoid. Especially the end of phase mechanic where 3-4 people converse for the stack ... yeah, given how obnoxiously and unnecessary big the icons are, I always tell myself "this gotta be on purpose".

    I hunt a lot so that's used to be the reason I disable everyone effect except mine so my PC won't have a melt down. Two weeks ago I was curious about PCT's animaton, and I know I won't be playing that job anytime soon so I turn on party effect the first time in like ... probably half a decade.

    And holy crap I pretty much fail every stacking mechanic in EX2 because I can't literally see ****
