Questions for Yoshi P

Hello Yoshi P,

I was at Gamescom on Wednesday but heard you'd only be there on Friday/Saturday. so I sadly couldn't meet you. Hope you can answer some of my questions here instead though


• Will we get a dye storage at some point?
• Do you think it might help if the game had a post fight screen with some info on what you did well / badly? so to inform the player on what to focus on if they want to improve.
• I love the rings you wear, do they all have a meaning or do you just find them cool? (they are!)
• Dawntrail was a cool expansion, but personally I felt that it had some pacing issues, did you have to cut out content as it would be too big otherwise?
• With Endwalker and Dawntrail we have gotten a lot of high tech zones, are we going back to more fantastical lands at some point or is the future more focused on technology?
• Server ticks are a part of the game (and the community has found a good way of dealing with them) but some mechanics feel very hard because of that, think of the heart phase in M2 or the teacup boss in the new optional dungeon. because of how much is going on I think the server tick acts slightly differently, is this something you can look into or avoid in the future? it's quite annoying xD.
• Sage feels amazing, thank you for such a fun class! something that comes to mind however is how valuable Addergall stacks are and how piety becomes useless, (it's also the most boring stat). are there any plans on reworking how piety works so it would be more desirable?
• Housing is a beloved activity in the game, but the servers can't store in 3 dimensions or at least very weirdly. is this intentional or a limitation that's hard to overcome?
• I have an issue with my left hand (I cant move my pinky and ring finger individually), this means that classes with a lot of buttons are very hard to play for me, now I saw on viper that the usual 1-2-3 combo is just on 1 button that changes, could this be an accessibility setting for all classes? it would help me a lot!
• Any news on more slots in the housing/glamour storage/save slots?
• When I saw beast tamer becoming a playable class in FFXIV I was very excited, could you elaborate as to why it's a limited class though? I like blue mage but I rarely play it as it doesn't have a real place in any content aside from irregular tomestone farms. also I wanna be able to ride the tamed beasts!
• shipping on merch is very expensive for us in the EU, is there a possibility that you could open a distribution center here so there are less shipping costs?
• what values do you believe make FFXIV, FFXIV?

For any Non staff people, please don't respond, its fine if you have opinions but I am not here for them, I'd like to hear from Yoshi/someone who knows the actual design decisions. not rando's!

Well I doubt he will answer them via the forum post. He doesn't routinely post on the forums. In fact, even the community team rarely post here except routine announcements and summaries that mostly go on the lodestone as well. Yoshi-P also speaks Japanese.

I'm not convinced this is a server tick issue. The game snapshots on cast completion / orange aoe disappearance. So you just simply complete the mechanic prior to that and you're safe. Maybe server processing delay could have a microscopic impact on this but it's mostly going to be ping or connection quality. I have over 150 ping and I don't have these issues, personally. If I fail a mechanic, I didn't do it before the cast/orange circle disappearance and this has been consistent across two ISPs now and even despite the NA server moving. And yes, I have had no issues in M2 whatsoever with this ping - any mistakes are my own and not excuses like "snapshot" or "server tick".

I actually think a better example of a "tick" issue could be the dolls running around in the expert dungeon. I can frequently just be nowhere near them and still get bound. But my guess is maybe the hitboxes are just too big and that combines with my ping to catch me.

They could increase the server tick, but I really feel like if they did, everyone complaining would still have issues because they aren't doing the mechanic before the snapshot or their connection has issues somewhere (which may be the route its taking; a VPN can help with this).

If you were asking for it not to snapshot on cast completion, but rather on animation execution, then maybe we can move away from the lag argument.

Blue mage can do the old raids and these are fun in a BLU static. I agree it would be nice if we had a very sophisticated beast taming class that involves feeding and breeding and riding and teaching abilities, but having played this game for nearly 10 years, I would suggest expecting nothing more than a "beast book" similar to the "spell book". I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see them fundamentally changing the mechanics of the game to make it have this sort of depth.

I'd like to know what his vision is for the inventory system going forward in the game. Right now the inventory system is way too complicated, with retainers having to be rented out via subscription and a constant influx of new items that are really just older items with a different name.
