I don't believe that Yoshi team will do huge changes other than animation and VFX but not the gameplay
Not if the skill tree options are all virtually glamours and amount to the same thing. Which is arguably how FF16 is.

ffxvi's system's inferior. Actually summoning the summon is always the better way, and it's FF's way of doing so historically. You can even go melee with the attacks you gain from Ifrit; so that isn't unique to xvi. The problem with xiv's summoner is the lack of summons, the over reliance on bahamut for everything, and the sleep inducing rotation. Pictomancer's rotation should be a basis for how they should redesign summoner; you should be making decisions and have options/resources that you spend when you feel like it.

When we told them we wanted to summon the summon we weren't asking for a rotation of ifrit, garuda, and titan back to back like you're throwing candy during halloween. A better rotation is one where the summoner itself has his/her own actions to build up a job gauge to summon the summon that excells at certain situations. We don't need to see ifrit, garuda, and titan back to back like we're showing off toys or something. If I want to summon Ifrit for an entire duty because he fits the situation the best allow me to do that.

Forced cycling the summons like a clown cycling through clown balls needs to be removed.

Got to disagree there. Spending most of the time "building up" to a single summon just... took away from how it's meant to be an actual summoner. In traditional FF games they absolutely just summon them back-to-back like that, and it feels great to play now.

However, I agree it could use more summons and not over-rely on Bahamut, or take really any of the features FF16 summons have.
