Beastmaster and feral souls... I hope they will give us pets.

So as most of you know we will get Beastmaster this expansion, but I am curious on how the class will work. Will we get our version of WoW's hunter or something else?

There are some thing that we know:

1. The AI for pets is not good, this is why they removed it.(see Summoner and Scholar).
2. Beastmaster can do group content with Blue Mage.
3. They introduced Feral Souls and we know from sidequests that they are based on Beastmasters.

So what do you guys think? Will we get a Beastmaster as we know it or some kind non pet Beastmaster?

I'm assuming the Beast Souls they made a point to make a whole story about in both the MSQ and the raid series is what we will get.

The only other aspect I could see being a hint is Erenville and his segments on understanding beasts, but I'm not sure if they will put a lot of effort into creating a large number of pets as opposed to more basic skill sets with a beast theme.

The antagonist of the VPR quests is also a beast tamer, but she ends up getting killed as soon as she gets something from Tural. My only real hope for the inevitable feral soul angle is that there'll be some mutations like Hephaistos or the Arcadion bosses, but I'm not optimistic.

It might get the summoner treatment, where it's just a fancy animation skill each beast you collect. I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point.

But anyway, it's a limited job so it's doa unless they revamp the concept.

If they don't include actual pets, then it's DOA, like he said. Would just be a palette swapped BLU and would serve no purpose but to pull Dev time from CBU3 from BLU and other classes for no real gain. Let's hope they aren't that stupid. It's a limited class, so it's likely DOA to begin with unless they really nail it. But the development of class design and delivery of mechanics in balance we have seen in DT would suggest to me that Beastmaster is going to flop harder than Wuk Lamat.

I say this sadly, as I was looking forward to BM alot until I saw Arcadion.

I really hope it isn't feral souls, but every ounce of me expects it to be--which in theory is just Blue Mage the sequel. I don't have a lot of things I really want out of Dawntrail but the hope of a (even limited) pet class is one of them.

It had better be pet management and I really hope Lyon and Pagaga will be involved. I'd dare them make Bozja a prerequisite for it
