This is true, the downside is that despite all the memes (that I hate) Kaiten never came back (technically did in pvp) but that's because the job fundamentally plays the same without it, the apm just got lowered. Vipers change actually removes management from the job.
lalafell btw
I prefer the new Viper myself, wasn't a big fan of the silly totally-not-a-dot on Reaper and wasn't a fan of it here.
That being said, I'd have been fine not playing it and having you guys who actually play melee dps more than once in a blue moon enjoy it more, so... yeah, sorry it ended up like this![]()

Admittedly I've not gotten very far with VPR at all, but the amount of outcry I'm seeing from Noxious Gnash being removed is something I'd expect from a mechanic like Aetherflow being removed from SMN/SCH. Can't say it really made much of an impression on me beyond being "Death's Design if it were snake".
The moves that renew it not being regularly available like Death's Design put a different spin on it that made it a little more interesting than Death's Design imo.
I wasn't great at managing it but it still felt nice.
Nice!I went into Dawntrail already feeling demoralized because they dumbed down my favourite job, Monk, by removing timer management and just making it "follow the glowing button". Then I found Viper and my interest was renewed. Pretty simple overall but it had some of the timer management I liked, I liked how it looked, it felt good to play. This was something I could see myself playing long-term, I was enjoying logging in each day and playing again.
I didn't even get to enjoy the job for a single damn patch before it was torn away from me. At this point it feels like the devs hate me specifically, like they don't want me in particular to have fun. Everything I like gets dumbed down until I hate it and I'm just so fed up.
There's still things about the game I enjoy but every time I think about playing I'm reminded that they screwed up Viper for no good reason and I get so annoyed that I lose all interest. Everything I find fun just gets lobotomized to try to appeal to players who don't even really care and who will still won't press the right buttons anyway. No point giving feedback because even hundreds of people turning up on the forums to say to leave something alone isn't enough to counter complaints from 2 players saying it's too complex.
If Noxious Gash is restored as it was then I'll come back, but I've played long enough to know the devs are stubborn and hardheaded about their "improvements" and basically never walk back changes no matter what the players say, so I'm not hopeful. To all those who complained and who will say "I like the changes actually": May you have all the simplification you ever wanted. I've had enough.
Can I have your stuff?
I'm extremely bored lately. I was engaged in playing and mastering Viper, and just when I was ready to start optimizing, they nerfed it as soon as I became interested. The monotony of crafting and gathering has me tabbing out or going AFK for half of my online time each day. The remainder is divided between chatting and reluctantly working on various tasks. However, I find myself stuck performing low-level content roulettes to level up my characters or acquire tomes for end-game gear. With each expansion, the low-level content becomes less enjoyable. When using Viper for roulettes at level 100 for red tomes, I'm reduced to level 50 in a main scenario duty with about two buttons to press. It seems they're ignoring the 98% of players who complain about the two-button rotations the healers dislike. On a positive note, at least it allows individuals with hand issues to play more easily than other melee classes while still dealing enough damage to get by.
Forums are a net negative , most ppl here are too complain, idk why people think their own individual leaving is meaningful unless they create a singular "everyone who's leaving cause of X like me post in this thread and why"
The scatter shot way of how eng forums do it are rather moot
Actually it is meaningful considering that FF14 has for the first time no longer broke its peak and had to rely on an engineered statistic to boost sentiment.Forums are a net negative , most ppl here are too complain, idk why people think their own individual leaving is meaningful unless they create a singular "everyone who's leaving cause of X like me post in this thread and why"

I'd really like to hear more about the feedback and reiteration process, because what happened with Viper was weird.
I'm not quitting or even that mad over it, but it was... weird. The community, no matter where I went, seemed universally against the changes.
This game really needs a PTR and a secondary director who actually wants to talk about gameplay. I think Yoshi P said more about the Elden Ring expansion than any functional gameplay elements in Dawntrail.
