tbh.. they should just give the Gap Closers Proximity based damage, like Warp Strike from the FFXV Fight.. and maybe add a Penalty when you do a Gap Closer at Melee Range..
Yeah, let Gap Closers do Damage at Range but 0 DMG at Melee Range.. well at least imo.

I second this. I like warp strike too lol..
I don't like having gap closers part of openers but if you also think about it, it doesn't make sense not deal damage if you want to surprise attack enemies
Given how long the GCD is in this game, this would only lead to degenerate gameplay where you hit a GCD skill, run out, hit the gapcloser for damage and carry on without any loss.
I like not having to "waste" a movement tool for minor DPS, however I always imagined them just removing the potency... Never in my wildest dreams did I forsee them removing cool animations just to replace them with clunky garbage. Please bring the OG animations back!
I have mixed feelings about Plunge, honestly. Like, it unarguably looks cool.
But at the same time it felt quite out of context for a job whose animations are themed around heavy gear and slow swings, to suddenly be able to leap and somersault in the air? With apparently no magic to boost the jump? I guess the solution here for me would be to at least make the jump more magicky.
I was also initially upset about Rough Divide, for me it felt like a disservice to remove an ability named after one of the job inspiration's original abilities. But after playing GNB for a while, I have found that in the heat of battle I don't pay that much attention to how different the skill feels. I'd still prefer to keep Rough Divide, but don't have a strong enough opinion to fight for it.
I actually prefer GNB's new gap-closer animation. Though I think Plunge is WAYYYY better than DRK's new one.

I like the new animation for GNB gap closer and teh name of it. Plus i always thought a GNb sliding in then using their sonic break like a sneak attack. Lets not forget rough divide was part of their burst window for no mercy. But for DRK the name plung but you jump in the air without a cool effect, seems weird. Maybe if they bring back that animation mae it so a burst comes off the player's feet or make a smakk indent in the ground when landing.
Agreed, and the DRG one is very lame as well.
