Yet WoW handles server transfers to FULL worlds (aka congested) just fine, weird how that works.Listen, I'm not gonna flood this thread with screenshots of various other games where that first sentence is a lie/not possible *cough*.
Let's do something significantly easier. Post 1 receipt of a decently populated MMO that has the feature you speak of. An MMO that does not have server/world caps, no world/server transfer restrictions, and or will allow someone to bypass a no transfer restriction.
Out of curiousity I checked GW2, and it's very much the same.

I think SE should start copying homework from both Blizzard (allow people to transfer if they pay money) and give us a megaserver like GW2 or a mega-data center.
I'm curious why that is, what kind of limitations cause that and so on...
Personally I'd nix the megaserver. I'm a GW2 refugee and the megaserver system kept putting me in the same world as people I've blocked, and they were able to still harass me anyways. But if Sqenix can work it in such a way that that won't happen, I'd be fine with it.Out of curiousity I checked GW2, and it's very much the same.

Don't we already have a literal delete character button in terms of block functionality? You can't see their model or messages anymore- something that isn't in GW2. I also played GW2 for 5 or so years before starting FFXIV, I never had issues with people there as much as I did here. I'm sorry you went through that. On the bright side as we become a megaserver/DC there'd be a larger pool of players to pick from and you'd unlikely run into someone you blocked in DF/PF.Personally I'd nix the megaserver. You know, you're right. While I did have some trouble with people here as well, I've been able to more easily avoid them compared to over there. So yeah, megaserver system away.Don't we already have a literal delete character button in terms of block functionality? You can't see their model or messages anymore- something that isn't in GW2. "are allowed only if the population of the world is at less than capacity"Out of curiousity I checked GW2, and it's very much the same.

The issue with FFXIV is the infrastructure was built incorrectly from the start and they built atop of it. FFXIV has separate individual storage spaces for absolutely everything, including retainers. This has not changed since 2.0 outside of capacity increases.
When we world transfer or DC travel, the system only keeps our personal inventory and a few special storage areas like the glamour dresser and armoire. Additionally, if you look at the buff bar the text color changes on them from green to white, which probably means it is applying a copy of a buff to the character without a designated source. Basically, they have a very clunky system and never intended for this feature to exist.
As for why WoW lets people transfer to congested servers and FFXIV doesn't, that's probably more a policy thing. FFXIV has had that suffering from success problem of getting too many players before so they try to make sure everyone has a max possible login time. WoW is just kind of a monster when it comes to this stuff: Simpler game so more time to deal with the big problems.
