I so severely do not care what removing these garbage regulations would do to PF, it would not make a mote of difference in my mind. I'm tired of being slapped on the wrist for wanting to spend time with my friends.

Sounds more like the raid community and not so much the rp community being as they have weathered this kind of congestion in the past and came out stronger from it.

have you ever been to balmung lately ? balmung is literally the RP/other kind of RP hubs, i dont know what you're talking about "weathered this kind of congestion", everyone is literally on crystal for RP, it's the same situation but for RP, there's not anywhere as much anywhere else, like please if you are going to speak on a topic at least do a tiny minuscule amount of research

Apparently according to some people in this forum (they'll know who they are), you should just not have those friends and get new ones, because muh congestion ! People will go on Aether to raid, oh noooooooo! Clearly this will never happen again the second Aether opens up again in the future ! Keep it locked down ! Lmao, I swear to god it's like these people have 0 logical skills, as if because you lock it down now, the second aether opens they wont go back there.

This happens in every single MMORPG in the market, WoW has the same with Moonguard or Argent Dawn for the EU region, people always pack up in one place, and SE allowed it with DC travel, you cant just go "oopsie i did a woopsie" and then heavily restrict a feature just because people did exactly what you allowed to do, that aint a thing, like make it make sense people lmao

I will say, SE can be very grateful that this community is completely weak and has 0 backbone to stand up to them and actually ask for this (or anything really) to be fixed, yall are literally the problem with this game.

FFXIV is the only game that actively punishes people for playing with their friends in an MMORPG, and some people here will stand there proudly saying that it's a good thing because "people flock to one DC and they shouldnt be !!!! bad !!!"

I mostly play between 2PM EST to 8PM EST, do the problems occur to the rest of you later than these times?

Correct. Prime time on NA would be 8/9PM EST until 12-2AM EST depending on Data Center. That's when most people try to raid and when venues open for rp.

I mean, while I understand being with your friends is what you want, that's what caused problems, so the more you and your friends fight against the devs, the hard they're just going to screw everyone over including you. That's what caused this situation to begin with and you fighting the solution is just going to make them more strict. If you're noticing it's getting harder to sign into Aether, it's probably because it is. Eventually more and more people are just going to try to cheat the system and you won't be able to sign in to Aether period after you disconnect or a maintenance happens that forces you off. Or, the amount of cheating gets so high that Square decides to host a maintenance and shift data center travel to not even allowing travelers at all to sign into Aether so even if you're at character select, you can't get into the world. You being there is only because Square allows you to be, and like I said, the more you piss them off, the more you're going to force their hand to do what they could've did already. You can keep doing what humans do, and they're just gonna keep doing what devs do.

That's not my case: My RL WIFE cannot return because of this - Cannot make a new character and SE is literally telling me that if I want her and 20+ other guildmates together, I have to walk away from an FC that has been active since 2013 - To hell with the time and money spent since then to maintain a FC House over that period of time because of a stupid fluke regarding an explanation SQUARE wrote =\

Apparently you don't know the actual history of Balmung or you don't know what weathered means. Balmung was labeled as Congested for 80+% of the year for the last 4+ years with noone able to create new characters. Before Endwalker, every single housing in Balmung was taken up including apartments in every ward and subdivision in every neighborhood. Housing as a whole was non-existent on Balmung to the point people were paying 500M-1B for a large Goblet back then. Roleplay communities also regulary cap housing that restrict people from joining their friends, cap housing wards that prevent people from even getting inside, dealt with years of harassment that had venues locking doors to prevent future guests from entering, used to regularly lock players out of community discords from not having character/phone verification, making report/ban threats off of associations that prevent people from joining their friends. OG RP people aren't new the concept of being told "no" when it comes to congestion in general or joining their friends. And most would find it lowkey almost weird for people to complain about losing their friends on one data center, when most of them have friends on every single data center that they've made from actually socializing, and venue owners deal with the severing of connections of hundreds, potentially thousands of staff, partners, and guests. And yet, they aren't the primary one's here on the forums despite background frustration I've heard. One of the primary rules of the RP community in itself is "No means no". You aren't taught or expected to challenge things when something gets shut down. If you are locked away from your friends, you take the loss and meet up at a different time or have them come to you instead. They eat the inconvenience instead of screaming about an entitlement because they realize it's out of their hands and would rather walk away than get an accusation of "being disrespectful" or "inconsiderate of others" because it leads to situations getting worse including getting blackballed by an entire data center's worth of venues like what raiders have been doing to Aether.

Because what you want is something that I was going to let you learn on your own since you seem to be an older person that doesn't know the average developer mindstate or company protocol. The old days of game companies having a personal touch in their customer support is gone due to people lying and abusing systems as well as playerbases growing over time. If they refund or help you, a lot of people are going to ask for the same, and they're not going to deal with that headache, that door isn't going to be opened. They're going to say that you should've confirmed/asked before making the transfer, including checking the FAQ on the support page for ff14 where it states that free companies are not on the list of data that is transferable with the home world transfer service. That also opens the door for people to home world transfer to recieve benefits such as XP bonuses, chocobo feathers, gil, etc. and then return, on top of allowing characters to rejoin a congested world that is not supposed to be accepting new characters at all. Being made an exception to the policy is going to cause liability to someone's job because most players will tell others how they received something and it become expected or favoritism accusations circulate. Another example of where no personal touch in support is the case is account rollbacks when it comes to housing. If someone was to hack your account (like what happened to me), support can recover your personal house and belongings, but anything done to the FC including the property itself cannot be reinstated. You, as the leader of the FC, are also not entitled to the FC activity log after it leaves the chat log you can see in game. So if someone was to kick everyone from the FC, demo the house, and then spend a bunch of company credits to flood the log, customer support will not even give you the name of the person that kicked everyone and demo'd your property. My mistake costed me 500Mil in housing property on Aether, yours costed you valuable members of your FC.

Couldn't SE just have restricted PF use for travelers instead of restricting travel? If people were only able to join private password PF parties as a traveler and not create any parties, then raiders would stay on their own data center unless they were joining a friend's PF party.
