[Feedback] Data Center Travel Changes

Data center travel is currently garbage and BROKEN. The situation is not merely a matter of keeping servers from being overly congested, the system is broken. There's no way the intention was to allow a player to (1) start the character transfer process, (2) have the server they selected get flagged as congested after they start, (3) wait 30 minutes or more while the game times out and closes over and over, (4) and not be able to play on any other character whatsoever. Players are given no options once they are trapped in this situation.

I have not seen any official recognition by SE that the system is broken. So my guess is that we're gonna have this broken system for a long while and I'm advising all my friends to avoid data center travel particularly during peak hours. There's also ZERO chance that I will create a character on a low population server now and I'm advising potential new players on which low population servers to avoid starting on because who wants to get trapped on those?

It will come to the point that nobody uses World/Data Center travel anymore in fear of being stuck.
Then the DC travel will be shut down permanently with much happiness from everyone.

I'm an EU RPer, our main RP server is Omega, I created characters on Phantom when it was a Preferred Server because I knew I could visit Omega, the venues, the houses, the apartments, my friends who I RP with.
Now, if Omega is declared Congested, I can't go there.

Neither will any RPer from Light be able to travel there.

I'm assuming you were trying to get on Seraph? I was surprised they turned it to congested until I remembered when I went there during prime hours and it was Uldah Balmung 2.0

Well, Aether has no new character creation. Half of Primal and Crystal have no new character creation. Aether has no world visit during prime hours. Primal and Crystal become half a data center visitation wise during prime hours with all of the most populated worlds being unaccessible to a new player. 8 worlds visitation wise that have travelers from all 3 main data centers, small medium and large housing with 0 bids for weeks/months, leveling buff, or...a crippled data center for visitation with a bigger marketboard for the moment (which you don't have gil to spend on significantly because you're a sprout) and slightly faster queue's and minimum housing.

It was considered the roleplay world on Dynamis. It became the most populated world on release so when Travelers come, they often head there because it already had the expectation of being decent population wise.

Yeah from what ive been seeing and been told, JP player really arent fans of this change too. They are however working around it easier than west, most are taking to the preferred worlds to congregate...

This is just frustrating. Can't even make large RP events from this congestion crap. They really need to invest some of the money we've been pouring into their game.

Really hoping we hear back on something about this soon from the devs. One of our raiders were just trapped in a limbo last night, hoping it won't happen again tonight.

Yep. JP FF14 Twitter told people that the errors are just what happens when things are congested and just be patient and keep trying. No mention of a fix or acknowledging negative feedback. Preferred and New bypass the Congestion status of a data center and I wondered how many people would miss that and still try to sign into Seraph despite it being changed to Congested. The statics I knew always met on one of the 4 newest Dynamis worlds just to have the lowest regular playerbase to get in faster which means they probably had less issues than I had on Hali (i was on loop for 20-30min'ish before I got in)

1) You missed the Endwalker lodestone for congestion back then:
"In preparation for these predictions, we optimized our servers ahead of the expansion’s launch in order to increase login caps."
"Although we were unable to add new Worlds, we have implemented every other measure that was possible, such as replacing the matching servers with higher-performance machines, optimizing processes, increasing processing speeds, and raising the number of simultaneous logins."

2) "“Error 2002” may be displayed when selecting a character in the Character Selection menu. This error is displayed when the login server is experiencing high amounts of traffic or when the number of characters waiting in a login queue for a logical Data Center exceeds 17,000. This is a measure to prevent the server from crashing due to extreme traffic overloads."

Easier for SE is akin to the server not crashing and kicking off everyone including the people already logged in.
