[Feedback] Data Center Travel Changes

Seconding this. I didn't even know this was going on and I can't believe anyone is trying to run a static with cross dc at all right now. The people going into DC travel wont even reach their destination until maybe 40 minutes to 2 hours later. I'm still trying to get back to my home world clawing in the dirt. I want to be able to at least do something tonight in game.

I noticed that, as well as the person who had been going on about how the DC system should be shut down. Do these people even hear what they're saying? This game is shockingly the first time I've had friends and stable RP in years, so forgive me for being upset for separating me from them.

Not to mention that they've split the server/dc's before. So prior you might have been on Zalera which was iirc on Primal (where youve made friends) originally and then got moved to Zalera now on Crystal.

If I knew they were gonna do this ahead of time, I would have just joined an aether-specific static to begin with... Decisions like these have to be communicated well in advance, especially when it comes to game content that people literally make plans for months ahead of time.

Agreed. Though a part of me thinks that the original limitation was a test. And they probably liked what they saw over the few weeks they had it in place and didn't want to remove it but knew a complete shut out like before was likely going to be too much outrage so they decided to replace it with a nerfed version. The fact the new announcement has no planned end date/time, tells me that they wanted something like this permanently. They're going to work out as many kinks as they can in the current system and prob keep it if I had to guess.

Majority of people aren't unsubbing even if they did take it out completely. Data center travel is a privelege, not a right.

Yeah, and when I first started playing, EU had only one datacenter. I had friends on Zodiark who just got moved away from Chaos. We were in different FCs and neither of us were going to abandon other friends just to hang out. DC Travel was the bandaid we needed to play together again.

Kindly piss off with your "travel is a privilege, not a right". It's been a part of the game for many people who, quite literally, don't know any different.

Rather than angry posting, because missing out our first raid day definitely has me heated.

Simply, please fix. I don't want to transfer to aether but I will if it becomes a problem. If I am just stuck forever I don't mind taking another long break bordering on permanent.

As if they didnt force you to make friends on one server and data center (because pf) and then split your server location (aka known as the Crystal Split.)
So you make friends and then they split you.
A Right? Please.
If you allow something in your game then its your OBLIGATION to make it work, if youre getting paid a subscription especially.
If you cannot make it work then close the feature.

Also VoidsendStatus its something that affects all players globally not just the American ones. I peaked in the japanese Forum and you find people describe the same problem. I play in Europe and I am stuck aswell. Its not just about Raiding Travel on American Data Centers.

I know. JP had a worse issue than Aether. They had Mana data center congested entirely, all 8 worlds, for like over a year. Elemental raiders apparently ran to Mana and flooded it, and even started hosting PF's excluding ppl from Elemental/English speakers from the more majority JP data centers. And RP/venues were more common on Elemental compared to the other data centers as well. Their raiding and venue community are going to have growing pains as well.

Honestly the changes in general are also Pretty Bad, but they'd have been taken with a lot less abject vitriol if they had been communicated properly.

DC travel is the kind of thing where, once you open Pandora's Box, there's no way to put it back without completely alienating a large part of the current population that joined the game after DC travel was implemented. People have built communities in game that rely on DC travel and it's weirdo behavior to go "okay screw your friend on another DC that doesn't want to play this game without their friends."

And you conveniently left out what you did until in the meantime. (according to google) Light was added on April 2, 2019 compared to July 2022 when Data Center Travel was released. What did you do during that 3 year time period?

Went to do content with my friend on Dynamis, and now am locked out of the game as I sit in a cycle of unknown wait times and error code crashes trying to get back home.

1 hour and 37 minutes later, finally back home. Considering I had plans for maps and doing more content with my friend, who had to make their character on Dynamis because of the stupid congested rules to begin with, now I'm going to have to reschedule a lot to avoid dedicating nearly 2 hours to just praying for a function to work.
