It's been 3 hours. This is unacceptable.
I just spent an hour trying to go see friends on Crystal again in our usual hangout spot at their free company house, got disconnected from the queue seven times with 505 [Unable to successfully complete Data Center Travel request. If your character is not listed in the target Data Center, please wait a few moments before trying again.] and 2021 [World data could not be obtained. Please try logging in later.] errors which fully closed the game. I was then shoved right back in every time I loaded the game back up with no option to swap to any alts, no matter which Data Center I tried to access. When I could finally see my character on the log in screen on Mateus, I was told I couldn't log in as a visitor because the world was full. I had the same experience trying to return to my home world (Famfrit): an hour straight with seven or eight disconnect errors before I could even see the log in screen.
When DC travel was opened today, I expected some delays, but this is unacceptable. At least cancel the travel process if the target world is too full/congested, despite being a Standard world.

Imagine even being able to have the option to DC travel. Welcome to Oceania.

That's the last thing I'm waiting for. If they were going to allow cross data center for anyone unrestricted or only introduce cross region duty finder for anyone, it should be OCE imo. I know people that have been there since release. Having bronze for top 100 in ranked pvp, no casual pvp queue for 80%+ of the season, no roulettes other than primetime, no help in eureka/bozja, and needing to basically get bailed out by the JP community of old friends coming to help out is mad tragic. Like they actually need to be attached to JP because their population isn't enough even if they forced everyone to stay there unlike Dynamis.
The attempt to "promote the even distribution of players across our Worlds" does not work. With dynamis as the only datacenter letting people on, it forces every static with members on more then one DC to travel to dynamis to raid with no guarantee of even being able to return to home data centers after. This results in most of the raiding population of the game lost on a foreign DC with no access to FC buffs, retainers, or a stocked market board. All you have done is moved the congestion issue from one location to another & made the whole thing worse in the process.

Trying to get back to Aether after traveling to Crystal for raid, which was already a nightmare due to the server with most of the group being closed (which almost stranded some people on other dcs due to not being able to get into most of the servers), has been a nightmare of getting kicked from the game and trying again. I'm trying to get home to Jenova from my raid so I can do stuff with my FC and check my retainers, but I am completely unable to due to being stuck in the DC travel loop. This entire thing seems to have been extremely poorly thought out, especially for the time they decided to implement the update. You managed to break a perfectly fine DC travel system
I am also stuck in the everlooping hell that is data center travel, is there any way to fix this? It crashes after awhile when it doesn't cannot then starts all over.

Have to wait until the login queue isn't congested anymore as far as I'm aware. I got stuck in the cycle returning to Hali from Materia. I was able to sign into my alt accounts and check and the login queue was like 40-50 people and my ETA was showing as unknown still on the account I was trying to move a character. I didn't get in until a little after one of my characters only saw a 20 login queue instead. So I'm assuming you're just waiting for a big enough dip in login queue to be able to get in.

People were using DC travel to get to S ranks on other data centers. This will likely destroy that. Is this really necessary? It didn't feel like the servers were struggling. Was the hardware really struggling to cope with it...?

Yes. That is the entire reason that Dynamis and Meteor got created as well as some additional worlds. Back during lockdowns with Endwalker, they had so many people that tried logging in that it crashed the login queue and people couldn't sign in at all. And they had to give out free membership time. That incident was due to the WoW migration. They invested in hardware/chips for making additional data centers to help with the issue. They also invested in testing cloud data centers not too long ago. With Dawntrail, they stated they had a higher concurrent playerbase than in the history of the game since ARR, which means Dawntrail congestion was even worse than Endwalker. If people didn't go to Dynamis, it would've been worse which is why the Twitter account was spamming every single day asking people to go to Dynamis and they got rewarded for it. Even now, the zones are still instanced instead of being alone breaking up the server stress. The server stress isn't just in login, it's also people just existing in the open world as well.
